PC freezes when gaming and watching youtube at the same time
I have an odd problem, I like to game while watching/listening to podcasts. However my PC completely freezes (have to cold reboot) if I have youtube video playing on one monitor and a full screen game on another.

PC specs: AMD Ryzen 7, 32GB ram, Radeon RX 580, Windows 10

My investigation so far:
- CPU and GPU are not overheating
- no errors in the windows system log before the freeze
- not game, browser or streaming platform dependent. It will fail with game A + Youtube playing in Chrome just as well as game B and Rumble playing in Edge.
- freezing does NOT happen if I simply collapse the browser window that is playing video
- sometimes it's almost instant upon starting a game when video playing, and sometimes it will take 30 minutes for PC to freeze

Other than the video card perhaps needing an upgrade, I'm not seeing anything that could cause this.

Suggestions appreciated.

Loose cable or broken power cable. Inspect your PC case and see if the connectors are properly inserted; maybe they slipped out for whatever reason.
Also make sure you have enough watts pumping out of your power supply. Perhaps there really is a shortage happening when your pc demands more (and isn't receiving it).

Sudden freezes often occur because of an unexpected electric spike (usually a very low peak) on the clocks, so I am guessing power.
Another reason why I am guessing this is because there is not a single error being reported other than an unexpected shutdown in event viewer. (if I am reading correctly.)

Another thing that can cause it is memory issues. Test your ram after you checked your cables.

If the PSU was not enough the system will simply crash. It's pretty much that simple. Systems don't simply "gimp" along when "short" on power. It doesn't work that way. When you play a demanding game or run a demanding benchmark that maxes out CPU + GPU; if the PSU is not enough the system should either Shut Off, or Auto Reboot.

Yes as WinOS does default to having the "Balanced" power plan applied and Ryzen Users definitely should not use that. It causes all sorts of slow downs and performance issues.

I guess to take it all with a grain of salt then. I had seen many YouTuber who know their tech and when doing modern AMD Ryzen builds they experienced issues when Win10/11 is left on the Balanced power plan. Where the system overall user experience was negatively effected by all sorts of odd pauses and freezes when clicking around various menus of WinOS and much delay in loading up various apps and such.
