How do I use a GameCube controller on Steam?
I have the Dolphin emulator in my Library, and I'm getting a GCN adapter for my birthday.

I'd like to know, out of curiosity.

More like it's not coming to Steam at all.

That doesn't stop people from getting it from the usual places and adding it as a non-Steam game though.

OP, What you want is something like the Mayflash GC Controller adapter[www.amazon.com]. Steam will see it as generic USB controller which can be configured through Steam Input like any other controller. Even outside of Steam, Dolphin should see it just fine and utilize it as normal.
Dolphin has built-in support for the gamecube adapter for wiiu/ switch. Read dolphin's FAQ/ wiki.

This doesn't make it get pulled from non-Steam shortcuts.

That said, try the settings in Dolphin itself for controller configuration; it supports multiple APIs, namely DirectInput, XInput, and SDL.

If it doesn't work, try configuring the controller using Steam's controller support then enabling controller support in the Library shortcut.

If I were using a PS5 controller in that case I'd say yes because the emulator does have native PS5 controller support via the SDL API. However, whether or not to enable controller suport is dependent on the controller and the game.

It may be get removed from STEAM but its still a Separate program to begin with, so just get it from the dolphin website.

I use USB Gamecube and N64 controllers, they do the job just fine.

Then you should bave just stated that you added it in Steam via non-Steam Game. Very simple. IDK why you would though just load up the Emu by tself, why have Steam running to do this.

Yes I didn't realize. Sorry I didn't look it up first.
I kept hearing how Nintendo was looking to sue Valve over this emulator; I thought it was on Steam some how.

Anyways lets drop it. The Emu has it's own settings and many controller support; do not run that through Steam at all. Just run it by itself.
