The max power limit on "the best" 3060 is 240w, they have a max power limit of 180w on average.

A 500w psu is more than enough

I tried it on a PCpartpicker my Build was recommended at 366 Watts PSU Usage with RTX 3060

The official Nvidia recommendation for an RTX 3060 is 550 watts and for a 3060 ti, 600 watts.

You should be fine with a 500 watt PSU, but if it were me, I would go with at least what's suggested by the manufacturer, being 550.

It is better to just get 600 watt or 750 watt.

for a long time 600w was overkill, now its under the min for most gaming builds

but as always, brand/model over labeled wattage
too many fake or overrated psus out there

OP, You didn't mention what your CPU is, but i presume it's a mid-range 100w TDP CPU.

RTX 3060 itself needs around 200 watts. So, 500w PSU is plenty for your system.

PSU calculators are dumb and always wrong. All they account for mostly is CPU and GPU TDP and maybe a couple watts per Drive. There's more to it then that.

Overall I would say do not go with 500Watts because there is hardly a good ATX PSU below approx 600 watts. Most PSU below that may not provide good efficiency or provide enough connectors. If the PSU doesn't have 2x 8pin EPS + 2x 8pin (6+2pin) GPU connectors, I would avoid it.

Let's also keep in mind modern CPUs and GPUs can pull large surge currents in excess of their continuous ratings.

If the CPU and GPU alone is say a combined 350-400 watts. You should be adding another 100 watts right off the bat there, making a 500 watt PSU just not enough. Something like 600W Gold Certified by BeQuiet or another decent brand would be the base minimum there really. You need breathing room to run max power at full loads while having good efficiency. You don't want to be pushing the PSU to 90+ %

Did you know that watts is always a relative number? One rtx 3060 can be 250 watts and one rtx 3060 can be 150 watts. So it is better to just get the 600 to 750 watts PSU.

Thank you for the info i probably play safe it and buy a higher PSU Watts. after all my PSU is 4 years old now.

Pay once cry once, buy a 1000 watts and forget it what ever you put in

Going to get that if they put RTX 5060 Tie or RTX 7060 TI in reasonable price in the future.

Just blindly going to say 1000 watts or higher isn't very good either. Efficiency goes out the window if you only draw 400-500 watts on a 1000 or 1200 watts PSU. Plus there is usually quite a price jump when looking at PSU above 850 watts Gold

Probably the only way 850 watts won't be enough is if you go with a Ryzen 9 or Intel i9 coupled with a 3090/Ti or 4090/Ti
