Everytime i try cs:go. I stop playing it after a few hours. It's just too slow for my taste.
-The guy with 1.2k hours in TF2
I did try one of the CS games long ago solely because I happened to own it (my first Steam purchase was the 2007 Valve complete collection) but I think it was Source (?) rather than either the original or the new ones you're asking about. I only did a few rounds. I was probably beyond terrible but outside of not finding it to my liking, I didn't find the particular experiences bad.
The big exception to not playing FPS games for multiplayer was a game called Command and Conquer Renegade over a decade ago. The single payer wasn't anything worth praising, but the multiplayer was special. I actually played it a lot for a number of years, but even that was more a hybrid of a FPS (and I'm fairly sure everyone opted for third person over first person) and a team-based strategy game. Attack and defend a base where each building gave the team features and if you lost the building you lost what it provided. I liked the teamwork and strategy side to it. It might also be the nostalgia speaking as it was one of my earlier experiences with online gaming. You could use vehicles and there was a tech that I would probably say is similar to the medic in Team Fortress (I'm not overly familiar with the game so I could be wrong). I liked playing that role and using it defend (repair) building the enemy was seiging while my team tried to stop them or use the distraction to sneak a siege on them. Fun times. I miss that game now. There was really nothing else quite like it.
but that was 20+ years ago, with a group of friends to play with
good memories
- better community
- lot of lan parties
- clearer maps
- no left eye peek
- no peekers advantage
- better awp
- better movement
- no bhop 50/50 luck chance
- more tournament systems
- less casual weird people
- less cheater
- no scamming
CSGO time benefits:
- better overall gameplay
- no random spray pattern but one for each gun
- more viable weapons
- official skins (if you like that)
- gaming, esports and shooter are accepted in the society thus we don't have to fight for a place anymore
- more player
- more viewer
- incredible casters for tournaments
- very good streaming service for tournaments
What's better? Very hard to say because both games have their own universe. The pure CS1.6 gameplay with LANs and all that was great. But nowadays the whole professional scene and tactical gameplay is much better.
