Why would be need to? The way he has chosen is the logical way if he wants to say, play a game and watch a movie at the same time. Having the 2nd monitor on his GPU would just put unnecessary stress on it when the Intel GPU is more than capable of the task at hand.
That's not true. You can use two different gpu's with Win 10. I also have a display running off my intel hd while gaming on my 980ti
You can if your motherboard supports it, most modern motherboards offer some kind of IGD Multi-Monitor support.
2. however for desktop I never saw an option to drive the displays from different cards... while on my laptop it just happens
3. more however, there is no need to do that, you can just plug several monitor into your discrete card and watch the movie alright on the second while playing
