Big Picture with Xbox One wireless controller and waking from sleep
As it's said in the title, I'm using Xbox One controller with official wireless dongle, to play Steam games on my living room TV. When it works, it works great. However, since installing Controller Companion software from Steam, I have problems when waking my PC in Big Picture with my Xbox One controller.

After I wake up my PC that way, there isn't any input registered from my controller. Yes, the controller is turned on, and the only way to get it back to responsive state in Big Picture is to restart Big Picture (to add up, after waking up I can make input with my wireless mouse, so it's not that Big Picture is frozen or something).

I presume these problems started after installing Controller Companion software, but I have to add up that last year I have been using Logitech F710 wireless controller instead Xbox One controller, and I had the same problems with Big Picture (unresponsive Big Picture to controller input, after waking up from sleep). I even bought the SSD to have quicker system boot up, because I couldn't use sleep mode propertly (and with that couldn't wake my PC with wireless controller).

This inconvinience of not being able to wake my PC propetly with controller and using it with just my gamepad in most situations, is the reason I'm thinking about jumping to console. Yes, I know the PC is powerfull, but even with my high skills with the PC, I have never been able to propertly configure my PC for propper living room expirience, and to not have any bugs or problems. I don't have much free time anymore and I just want to play some games on my couch after comming back from work.

Please help if you can. Thanks.

I take it unplugging the wireless dongle doesn't help? What about shutting the PC down and doing a full reboot each time? If you are using an SSD then there is a change you can load your OS quicker than your TV can be ready to display anything.

Failing that, if you do go for a console, wait a bit until the new XB1 is out. For a console, it is going to be a beast of a machine.

I understand what you'r saying, but I only turn off my TV at night when going to sleep. I mostly keep it on displaying Google Chromecast, and put my PC to sleep in between gaming sessions in that interval.

To be honest, I allready have 66 games on Steam, and about 20 on Origin/UPlay, so it's really hard for me to give that away now for a console. I would really like to keep my current setup, but I just don't know why it just can't be stable.

And yes, unplugging the dongle doesn't help in this specific situation, because the gamepad is on after waking up, it's just that Big Picture doesn't recognize it's input until I restart it.

I should disable sleep on the os and keep my pc allways on? That option isn't right because my PC isn't totaly quiet in idle.

As I said, why not shutdown the PC? If you have an SSD, it shouldn't take long to boot anyway.

set fans to run at a lower speed when its idle
bios should have options for cpu fan and a few headers, you can get a fan controller with temp sensor for extra case fans

Guys, thanks for suggestions, but I have allready tried all that options. Regarding the loudnes, I really tried everything. I even unscrewed my HDD and put it on some foam like material in my case to minimize loudness.

In the end I can conclude that there must be some kind of bug in Big Picture that prevents gamepad to propertly function after wake.

If there could be a way to power up my PC with Xbox One controller instead waking from sleep it could be the solution I'm looking for, because my SSD would make it a quick boot up. Maybe there is? I have Asus H81M-K motherboard? Are there any jumpers or such that would allowed me to turn my PC wirelessly with my Xbox One controller/Wireless reciever? Wireless reciever is recognized as network device in Windows 10.

do not put foam around the hdd, that will make it overheat and kill its lifespan

hdd should be quieter than a fan
if its noisy its time to replace it

I know that, thanks for heads up. That HDD is not important to me. I just use it to install games on it, and since every game is synced to cloud via Steam, Origin and UPlay, it's not a big deal.

When I normaly mount that HDD to case it's really loud. However, even with it lying on that foam thing, HDD temps under load don't go above 50 C. Under idle state it's arround 38-40 C, so I think it can pass with that. Other loud component in my configuration is the PSU (Coolermaster B600 ver.2).
