(Norton Anti-Virus) Auto-Protect isn't fixing itself.

I just got online for the first time in a month due to cable issues, and Norton tells me I need to turn on Auto-Protect. I click the "Fix Now" button under the security tab, and a couple seconds later it tells me that it isn't fixed. A couple more attempts, and it keeps saying the same thing.

What should I do?

Are there any updates for it? Definitions etc so on? After a month there should be.
Try updating it if you havent and see what happens.

If your subscription ended that could also be a possible cause for auto protect not enabling.

If it comes to it, just uninstall it and reinstall it.

Are you using other real-time anti-virus scanners, such as Malwarebytes, etc... on the side?

Depending on your version of Norton... it's not that bad. It's improved greatly compared to it's past of being a slow memory hog.

Norton Security 2016 actually rates quite highly - as they have moved from just virus defintions into more application control, etc. Which is lighter on resources, faster performance, and better detection.

Protection against 0-day malware attacks, inclusive of web and e-mail threats (Real-World Testing) - 164 samples used scored 100% (last March/April)

False detection 1 out of 1,217,779 samples used.

Just sort by performance / protection. I personally like 'Kaspersky Lab Internet Security 2016', 'MalwareBytes' and/or 'SpyBot'. Norton and Mcafee use to be terrible/slow, but Norton is catching up. I highly recommend application control + firewall, over basic virus definition detections these days.

If you are using other security software or other apps which might conflict, ensure they aren't on real-time monitoring, rather just manual run or remove. Multiple scanner can cause slow downs or conflict issues with each others - some now even disable/block each other to prevent this.

and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware paid
