SteamOS Problem
Hi, I'm trying to install SteamOS on my other computer. Got the files on a USB and everything, in my bios I set to start to boot from USB HDD before USB Floppy/CD. My SATA Emulation is "AHCI". In my Device Config I see both my HDD and my USB (Flash Drive). When I start the pc the only text I get is "ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has filen."! What can/should I do to fix this problem. The HDD is an 250Gb from a mac system. My Flash Drive works fine!? Please help me!?

This is a common problem which you can get around by burning the SteamOS ISO to a DVD and installing it from that.
Why not just use linux instead? All the steam os is a cut down version of linux which doesn't do half of what a full os would.

Hi, what should I do first? Start up the pc then put in the dvd or the oposite!?
AHCI then the USB Flash Drive should show up as just that; USB HDD/Floppy/CD would not be correct on most Boards. On some devices; like laptops, usually I have to select USB External or USB Floppy to get it to boot from USB Flash Drive. Please ensure you use an ISO Burning App (like ImgBurn) to properly extract ISO to a device (like Flash Drive) but a device like a Flash Drive usually must be formatted and made bootable before-hand. Or you will not be able to boot from it.

SteamOS is basically a custom Linux build, and just loading up your system with Steam and nothing else; it was not meant to be an every day Desktop OS replacement.

You can even use a full Linux or Windows type OS and make it so the default shell is disabled, and then make Steam or Steam BigPictureMode what your system launches with by default. Just ensure you know and understand how to bring up the OS related shell, just in case; such as Windows Explorer.

It has to be how the SATA Mode is setup or something; and if the BIOS is setup for Legacy UEFI or Full UEFI; as that can determine how the devices show up.

A motherboard has an F-key (Boot Options Hotkey) try connecting a SATA Drive + a USB Flash Drive, power-on then press that F-key to temp boot from a USB device. The USB flash drive should show up by name/model

If still doesn't work; please reset the CMOS fully (using the Jumper or Battery method) and then go back into the BIOS again and double check that things like SATA Drives are present; it should show all Drives/Models right in the BIOS.
