Bluetooth Controler

Could anyone recommend a good Bluetooth controller. I’m not looking for one that needs a USB attachment to a PC. Pure Bluetooth, if that’s possible.

I want to use it with a Steam Deck. It has no USB port for a dongle right out of the box.

Xbox controllers work out of the box with PCs (Windows, use SteamInput on Linux distros).

PlayStation controllers work too with SteamInput but you might need an Xbox360 emulator to use it outside of Steam. Also Steam offers customization support for PS controllers too. (via SteamInput)

my bluetooth controller is recognized by the deck but will not connect [blinks connect, then off repeatedly] no usb dongle

old xbox 1 controllers need the dongle so make sure to buy the right one

Just so you're aware, PlayStation controllers work excellently on Linux, but at least PS3 and PS4 (I've never tried a PS5 controller) need to be paired over the wire first. You plug them in, turn them on, then pair them, and then they'll automatically reconnect each time in the future. So you might need to borrow an adaptor for that first setup.

Xbox controllers are trash.

I like the Steelseries Stratus Duo and 8bitdo Pro 2.

Normally I would recommend against PS5 controller. Though the latest firmware update fixed compatibility issues I had before for certain games.

Keep in mind that it heavily depends on the game if they added a PS button overlay / PS controller support. If they dont you'll see xbox controls.

Edit: i dont get the xbox / ps war. I have both controllers and the only diffrence is the thumbstick dpad swap. Both feel comfortable to play with.
