LineageOS already has a few enhancements over AOSP, and simply not installing GApps (Google Play Services bundle) is a huge improvement by itself.
I still indend to replace my current device with a PinePhone, or, perhaps, FairPhone with a Linux distro as opposed to Android. I don't think any bare Linux distros have been customised for my device model, but I indend to get rid of it anyway.
Fairphone's are nice, I just so happen to have bought a Fairphone 4, because people kept complaining they often couldn't reach me when calling to the Pinephone. It was a minor effort to get UBports installed to it.
