I need to know if this laptop can run vr chat in desktop if that's all it is used for. This is the laptop.

HP 15.6" Laptop, AMD A6-9220 Dual-Core Processor 2.50GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, AMD Radeon R4 Graphics, DVD-RW, HDMI, Bluetooth, HDMI, Webcam, Windows 10

This laptop is not going to run any 3D games playable.

Uuuuuhhhh... if you're planning to run that seemingly ancient potato with a Rift or a Vive, I've got severely bad news for you.

No it can't
That can't game at all
(Without lowspecgamer ing it)

Not to run an actual headset I just need to know if it can run the desktop game somewhat smoothly. Im not even stupid enough to think it could run an actual headset.

Oh wait, you said VRchat in desktop, i read it wrong.
But still, that game relies really hard on CPU power, and the game itself is badly optimized.
But you can at least try, since it's free. Who knows, you might get more than 10 fps...

The thing is im trying to find a laptop under $400 dollars with just the sole purpose of playing vr chat desktop. With the game running somewhat smoothly.
I currently don't have a pc of any kind.

Then don't bother. Don't waste your time. Even something modern for double that is not going to run games all that well.

You may be able to fit a ultra cheap Ryzen 2200g, motherboard, 8gb of RAM and a PSU in that budget. Meaning no case and you have to use an old HDD.

Sorry, under $400. Finger slipped and I can't figure out how to edit my comment.
Then you CAN buy a case and HDD. XD

Like I said, not going to work on that budget on a use ancient laptop. You can literally buy a machine with 10x the processing power for the same money, get a desktop.

With that budget an entry level desktop would be best.

I don't know what to get lol.
End Goal: Play vr chat desktop somewhat smoothly.
Budget: $400
I just need to know what to get.
