Any IPS QHD G-SYNC monitor with small stand?
I was almost about to buy the Acer XB271HU but it occurred to me that I should check the dimensions of the base of the stand to ensure it would fit on my desk and to my horror I saw on the Acer website that the monitor is a colossal 26.8cm deep including the base. Is this correct?

I currently have a larger 32" monitor that has a stand base that's only 17.1cm deep. The issue is that there is already very little spare room on the desk left and my keyboard only just fits, so it looks like the Acer wouldn't fit on my desk (I rent the room so can't replace the furniture).

I've also checked the equivalent 27" IPS QHD 144Hz G-SYNC alternatives from Asus, AOC and Viewsonic. They are all noticeably deeper than current monitor, which doesn't really make any sense as my current monitor is a larger 32" model.

Is there any equivalent monitor out there with a stand base less than 18cm deep?

Thanks in advance.

I'd go for which ever you prefer but budget for something along the lines of https://www.amazon.co.uk/Erogonomic-Powered-Monitor-grommet-Screens/dp/B074VCFNJ6/ref=sr_1_18?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1524227243&sr=1-18&keywords=Monitor+arm to hold it up, I use 3 of them (if not this one, 3 that look identical) to hold up my 3 27 inch monitors, and it tidies the desk up and opens up a huge ammount of space.

As you can see here, it will likely be the easiest solution https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1286128507
You mentioned you have a larger 32 inch model. What monitor are you currently using?
I'd guess a TV which tend to have far smaller stands as they are unlikely to be knocked or moved by movement unlike a monitor on a desk that will be knocked and moved with every touch if your desk.
He might have a 32 inch monitor since he said "larger 32" model".

Anyhow, I'm hoping for FALD to go down in price. Not just the 144HZ 4k ones, FALD in general. Once it settles down, I might get something with full array dimming and HDR since it makes use of HDR properly, and since you can't use G-Sync at the same time with HDR right now.

Yeah, using G-Sync seems to be a smarter option than using HDR, but I would love to have FALD. I give quite bit of attention to my desktop image quality. Heh.
Yeah I have HDR on my new TV and it's definitely nice, didn't know it didn't work with gsync yet, not sure if I would give up gsync for it, but I guess it's one of those times where to have the choice would be nice.
Freesync supports HDR BTW.

Shame that the Vega cards perform under their Nvidia equivalents, while costing more because of mining, and being less efficient. So many new good monitor options on the Freesync end.

I currently have the AOC Q3277PQU.

I am looking to replace it with a high refresh rate monitor.

Thanks but the only issue I see with that is that it is still quite deep when set to a low height. The screen would be right in my face when using the keyboard!

Does it have to be G-Sync? There are 32 inch Freesync 144HZ panels out there. If you don't already have a good Nvidia GPU, you can look into going that route.

You'll be gaining higher refresh rates but losing screen estate with a 27 inch monitor.
Yeah, it's a good one. There was a thread Vega opened about it on [H] when it came out. It's expensive for what it is though. Might get an Acer refurb Predator XB1 32 instead if he has a 1080 Ti to push UHD. It's 60HZ but has G-Sync and still looks very good (my monitor carries the same panel w/o G-Sync, and less input lag).
A higher Res gives more desktop space than a larger lower Res screen, not less, physical size isn't really a factor here, unless you purely were referencing screen size and not usable screen area (as you can fit alot more on screen on a 27 inch 1440 Vs a 32inch 1080p).

As for the stands I suggested, I have them extended, they will sit pretty much flat to the table edge if you want, the pic may be a bit misleading, but that desk is huge, it's 180cm X 90cm, so far larger than the average desk, the way I play I am still an arm's length from the screens.
Screen estate means pure screen area physically. A 32 inch monitor will be bigger than a 27 inch one, I'm not talking about how much icons you can snag in to the desktop. Obviously more resolution gives more desktop space.

The Predator 32 is going for $700 on Acer's refurbisheds, I think that's a good deal if he has the GPU power to render 4k.
sorry for me, screen estate is always a measure of usable screen area not physical size, guess we just got our wires crossed.
ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q is the matching specs gaming monitor of the Acer XB271HU.

The difference is only in the on-screen menu (ASUS is better) and the price tag (sometimes it's more expensive depending on the country, or visa versa).

It's base stand might be slightly smaller? 22cm deep perhaps? You would need to check for yourself.

It's because they both share more or less the same panel. I believe the only difference is in the revision AUO offers them, like the mice sensors. Same basic sensor given out to multiple companies, but they change couple small things in it.
