Small repetitive hiccups in games, what causes it?
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this..
I just bought an Asus PG248Q gaming monitor, and suddenly I am noticing very small (almost unnoticeable) hiccups / stutters while gaming. But it is strange because when I am not interacting (that means not touching the mouse or keyboard) and just watch a "static" scene, I can't really notice it at all. But when starting to move my character (just pushing "w" for example) I notice a tiny tiny stutter every 2 - 3 seconds. it is not a deal breaker but a little annoying, and further more I am afraid that my new shiny monitor is defective (maybe Gsync problem?)
It happens in more than one game,so it is not a game issue.

If any of you know what I am talking about please advice on what could be the issue.
Thx.

Do you have gsync enabled and what are the rest of your specs?

Yes, I have Gsync enabled.
My pc:
i7 4790K
Gtx 1070 gamingX
16GB ram (ddr3 1866)
SSD

I don't think I had this issue with my previous basic 60Hz monitor (I was using Vsync than..But now I use only Gsync Since I bought the asus monitor)

Well maybe the Nvidia driver is a little choppy, I should probably try to clean-install another version.

A bad Nvidia driver or Windows 10 CU or FCU..or a combination of both

Ask at nvidia forum for the best current drivers that work well with g-sync, then if you have Windows 10 CU or FCU, start optimizing your os, put the power plan to high-performance, turn off all game mode / game dvr, disable fullscreen optimizations in each game .exe file, if it still feels choppy and you get stuttering, time to try the best current gaming os and that is Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 1607 build (Anniversary).

Thanks, I will start with the nvidia driver and see how it goes.
The reason I am not using high performance mode in windows is because I have a 4.6 overlcock on my 4790K at 1.3 v, and I set the bios Vcore to "adaptive mode" (so the voltage will go down when not neccesary) and high performance mode will keep the voltage constantly on 1.3 (as well as the frequency at 4.6).
