I don't think it's worth it at all but then again, I can still get by OK with what I have. If you don't have that "luxury," it becomes more tempting, particularly as the price is in the three figures versus the more typical four figures you see a lot for the higher tier ones.
If I was thinking of getting this, I would investigate the return policy more in-depth, in what eBay says in the fine print. What if the card is DOA?
Also, my CPU is still a 6 year old i5 6400, and I only game at 1080P, so the unnecessary bottleneck and overkill might not even be worth it. I am considering building a new PC though, so looking to get a decent enough new card for a what is considered right now a "reasonable" price.
Edit: oh and btw I personally would never buy a used GPU on Ebay... or anywhere just my 2 bits
Then again, the fact that you're asking probably means you have far less of an opinion against it than I do, but since you're asking and this is an entirely subjective thing as quoted above, that's mine.
Time is worth infitely more than money, so if you can afford it, and can justify it by it giving you joy, then waiting for a cheaper price is a net negative choice. There's always something better around the corner, usually for less, but it's rarely a good reason for postponing a purchase. Life's too short.
It has better ray tracing performance than your 2060 super, though. More performance, more tech like pcie 4 and resizable bar support. Much more vram too and the vram is faster at 15ghz.
The 3060 plows right through cyber punk I know that.
Most people that don't like the 3060 are usually salty about the cards vram. To me that's not a reason to dislike something. Besides, nvidia can only do 6gb or 12gb and they're not going to put 6gb again so.. I had cyber punk consuming 9gb of vram with 1080p and full rtx so it will use it.
Cheers
Yeah, no, I decided against it. After comparing the price to much more powerful cards that DO MRSP at that price (3080 and 2080 Ti), it's just not worth it.
By the way, not at ALL trying to ruin your enjoyment of something you clearly are happy with, which is all that matters, so I am happy for you on that. Just explaining why I feel the current RTX 3060 is not all that great because it's not really about the VRAM at all but rather the poor value, as I'm typically a midrange buyer who prioritizes that as I don't often have a lot of money to routinely spend on something like that. In the case of the RTX 3060 Ti, it's a better value, but it's priced rather high for the midrange and is "iffy" on VRAM. So most people are basically against it because it's barely a mid-range product in price while bringing up the performance a bit lower than it should have. Not "awful" mind you, but definitely not great at what the product segment is usually good at.
