What about 4000MHz at C18 ? i could only afford 2x8gb if i got this though, would i be better going for that do you think ? cant seem to find any 3800 on scan or amazon.
System Memory Specification
Up to 3200MHz
System Memory Type
DDR4
Ideally, you want the Ram to match the IF frequency at the lowest possible timings.
3600CL16 is the sweetspot but 3800/4000CL18 is going to give a little more performance without having to tweak the bios.
Infinity fabric supports up to 4000 MHz for Zen3 and 3800 for Zen2. There is a real benefit but it's not very noticeable in gaming performance, just raw CPU performance where FCLK matters.
3200 is effectively guaranteed support while going above that is up to the motherboard and RAM. AMD literally recommended 4000 MHz.
I highly recommend actually researching how AMD Ryzen works before you make yourself look silly again, just a recommendation.
So what would you recommend Escorve ?, i use only for gaming and my Mobo is Rog Strix X570-E
If you want to be safe, 3,600 MHz (CL 16 or better) should be your absolute preferred minimum, and if you want to take advantage of more potential later, go for 4,000 MHz (CL 18 or better). Since you're going with/went with a Ryzen 9 and X570, I see no reason not to just get the 4,000 MHz stuff. If you're going to set D.O.C.P. (X.M.P.) and call it a day and not overclock it, then whatever has the lower timings at the same speed will be better. Your call if you go for 32 GB or 16 GB.
Do you recommend any particular brand ? i usually use corsair but i cant find any with those speed/timings most seem to be 3600/C18 or 3200/C16 there is a Corsair kit on scan uk but its Pre order they dont have it in stock, and thats 4000/C16 but no RGB, i would get this if it was available although i would prefer RGB.
https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232861
Corsair Vengeance 4000MHz C16 2x8gb £164.48
Gskill Trident Z RGB 3600MHz C16 2x8gb £181.90
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600MHz C18 2x16gb £129.98
Clearly the top 2 are better Speed/timing ration, but is it worth the extra doe ? vs getting the 2x16gb, i am moving more towards the Gskill as it is better and has the RGB, but the other 2 state they are AMD optimised and the Gskill dont, i would get the top one but the lack of RGB bothers me and it is not in stock at the moment as its new.
What would you peeps pick if it was you ?
I have now also found
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 4000MHz C18 2x8gb £148.48
This is RGB and good Speed/Timings i think ? and RGB looks good ?
This basically, ideally you want to match the ram to the infinity fabric, I couldn't remember if that generally caps at 3800 or 4000MHz so took the safer bet.
As for the ram itself, patriot viper steel series is the best bet, 4000, 4133 and 4400MHz are all Samsung B-die, and even the 4400 cl19 only cost £110 ish per 2 8GB sticks, so take them and then set as fast as you can get away with matching your infinity fabric, you can then spend some time adjusting timings, I do t think they do them in 16GB sticks though, so depending on your mobo you may loose a bit of speed running 4 sticks for 32GB.
Sure, there's no rgb, but they are fast as hell and half the price of corsair / gskill etc.
I just swapped out my 2 year old corsair vengeance rgb Pro 3200MHz sticks for them last week to go into my updated build (and be watercooled).
