In Steam you should always have the Generic controller box checked, not any others. In Big Picture Mode. As the XBO and DS4 boxes are for those two controllers specifically. For any other controller such as DS3, DS5, 360, Switch controllers, it's normal for them to use the Generic detection box and be seen that way. Overall the driver should dictate how a game or client sees what controller it really is and how it handles the configuration and all that.
AC: Valhalla settings do not contain any kind of "enable" option for controller. If a controller is detected, it will work. The problem at this point is that the game does not detect the controller now that it is identified by Steam as a PS5 DualSense controller.
I would like to revert back to Steam identifying this controller as a Generic Gamepad. The problem is that when I try to Deregister the controller from my account it does not work. It sticks me in a loop where the "Deregister" button is continually shown. Each time that I click it, the PS5 Controller briefly disappears from the list of controllers. But then it instantly reappears again. This happens over and over.
I have attempted to restart my PC so the DualSense is not on and not connected. But without the controller connected, there is no option present to Deregister it.
Overall, AC games use Uplay so it might be a setting issue within that Client as well.
Thanks to those of you who helped with your advice. I appreciate it.
Might need to bring up Big Picture Mode, go to controller and reset that config so it's default for the now ID'ed PS5 Controller.
CYAN/GREEN LIGHTBAR ISSUE (Controller not working in-games, outside of steam, but within Big Picture mode, recognized as PS5 controller, just calling it Cyan/Green Lightbar Issue as that's notable) occurs:
Specific process: Start computer up. Start controller up. Steam boots, controller is hijacked. Make sure Playstation Configuration is on (My desktop config is empty but probably irrelevant). Shut down controller by holding PS button for 5-45s [widly inconsistent from my findings but irrelevant]. Start controller up again by pressing PS button. VICTORY.
This must be done upon boot-up, always, though once the configuration setting is on you can skip that, and it just becomes boot->controller cyan/green->shut off->blue & functional.
