You have no dedicated GPU?
Low RAM, integrated video, 1TB HDD. But yeah, for the price I wouldn't expect more.

Yup! No dedicated GPU.
Nope.
Basically stop looking at places like Argos because they generally sell cheap crap that isn't suitable for gaming (which is why they tend to hide the graphics card details). They're fine for administrative or office work, but not gaming.
ANYTHING that states it only has an Intel graphics chipset simply will not work, and that's why they're cheaper.
Your best bet - as I'm sure you're in the UK - is to either buy something used through CEX, for example, or just do a search round the usual electrical retailers.
I bought a new old stock MSI laptop that was about one or two years out of date for just under £500 a few months ago from Amazon. So good ones do turn up.
Ok then. I can dig that.
Simple rule - AVOID anything with an intel graphics chip ONLY. Take careful note of this, as many laptops (like my own) will have an intel graphics chipset AND a proper graphics card. So take care not to dismiss something that is actually suitable.
If price is a thing for you, then CEX might be your best port of call for a start, and places like Amazon. CEX will have a reasonable stock of used PCs keeping costs down, and amazon obviously have a wide range anyway.
If I can give you the biggest rule of thumb of them all, as you're not running that intensive a game, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to find a capable laptop or dekstop for £500, maybe even less.
4GB 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
You shouldn't need 16GB as I can run those games fine with just 8GB.
The issues you have with your current system are that Core 2 is too slow (or something else as well).
I can't really give you much guidance as it varies wildly, but as a rule you should be aiming for any PC that has been built in say, the last 4 years.
You can ALWAYS google the specs and see what it'll run.
