New Gaming rig 1080ti fan constantly running even idle.
I just saw this and my fan is always running even with nothing going on it will run at 16 percent. I have no clue why Idk if this is because it is set to high performance or what but I am not used to that and it doesnt make any sense. does anyone know a setting on windows 10 that will have the gpu go back to what most due which is power up the fan at a certain temp? or just normal?

this is what is annoying me I have NO CLUE. I think it is a FE but its almost custom black with 1080ti down the middle one fan. Came with a new hp omen I sprang for on black friday. Everywhere I look there is no info on who made it though it does look more like a FE.

There is app called SpeedFan, but i do not think it works

I think that you can also change it via bios or buy external fan controller.

Try Afterburner for a custom fan curve.
And if u arldy tried x softwares/drivers.
Perform a clean installation of video drivers, reboot, update again.

And since it is a blower, maybe an arctic cooler kit in the future.
If you still have probs with the card, figure out the brand and contac the manufacture.

I am a little worried though to mess with it. I know the 1080ti needs the vrm cooled in it and maybe this could be a feature of this card. I honestly do not know though. The fan just constantly run at 16 percent idle. I am not sure if that is what it is supposed to do but my 1060 6gb fans were tied to temps. So yeah a little confused on this one not sure if speed fan will help this one.

Im hoping its something simple like setting my powerl plan to balanced or some crap but idk I wonder if donwloading gpu z will help but yea a little worried to mess with it if its supposed to run idle.

Download afterburner and check what temp the card is running at idle and what the clock speeds are. If you have your power managemnt settings to max performance, the card will never down clock and the fans will likely run.

It may just be a case of moving your base unit to somewhere with better airflow.

Coz your ti is a stock blower design, nothing fancy and the 1060 was a msi gaming with custom cooler and features like fans not spinning in idle.

Temps are fine running at 29c idle i always moniot with hardware monitor. Clock is always sitting around 139 idle. Everything is fine besides that it just runs while idle or internet browsing and that is weird to me.

I'm really hoping that's all it is lol. I just haven't seen anyone online yet with a 1080ti say that and I've been searching

Fair enough. I have a gigabyte auros extreme 1080ti. The cooler on it is great and the fans are often idle. I was playing bioshock remastered the other day @ 4k and it didn't get hot enough for the fans to come on!

Crap I think your right just saw an article on tech powerup saying founder edition cards do not come equiped with a idle fan off feature. Hope that's all it is.

Haha! That's awesome man amazing card.

Just saw another review that says blower style fans don't turn off in a 1080ti review I really wish they would have included the brand of the cars maybe gpu z can show me.

Again, you can always think about an cooler upgrade, since it comes with a nice manual and ton's off ppl did a tutorial vid on yt or so, it's not rly demonic science or so. Possible a bit tricky but that's all. Or asked your trusty pc shop.
Or return and grab a gpu with a custom cooler design.

Haha I appreciate it I'm fine with it I was just wondering if that was normal. Idk who knows maybe I'll get rid of this 1080ti one day for a different one or maybe this one will die with me haha. Thank you for your help on both posts.
