Motherboard isn't posting all the time after installing new memory

I'm not entirely sure why it is happening but i got new memory with a higher clock speed than my old memory at 2400mhz to 3600mhz. but i realized it wasnt booting up at 3600mhz and i went through XMP to fix it in bios and now the motherboard wont post all the time「boots up sometimes but not all the time」. What can i do to potentially fix this while running my memory at 3600mhz. Sorry for poor english and any advice or assistance would be great!

Computer specs:
Motherboard: Asus x299-A
Memory: 64gbs trident z neo 3600Mhz
CPU: i9-9980XE
Storage Devices: Western Digital Black 6tb, Western Digital Black 4tb, External 10tb Fantom Drive.
SSD: 2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 2TB
Case: InWin 101 white
Power supply: Thermaltake toughpower 1500w
Video cards: 2 Asus Geforce GTX 1070ti

your CPU only supports up to 2666 MHz, even the i9-10 series can only go to 2933. also jeezus that's an overkill PSU XD

Explains why i had to go through XMP to get it to work. Thanks for the advice, really helped me understand the issue better!

That mobo even in 2017 could support memory up to 4200. However trident is not on the qualified memory list so the memory might not work at its rated speed. The cpu isn't a factor.

The board will reboot until it finds overclock timings that work. It should retain the settings, once it has figured them out. Or you could try setting up the memory manually.

Thank you for some of the advice, XMP automatically found the correct timings but i will see if entering them in manually would make a difference.

Buy good ram... Corsair, Gskill or Crucial. And stick to 3200 @ CL 14 if you can, which is faster

you're sure it's exact RAM you ordered ? Newegg is kind of Amazon of electronics.

Positive. Even though you have been the only one here that mentioned 2666mhz. So even though you might be the morally correct person here i will just keep this open a bit longer seeing if there is a work around. As before i did it through XMP it was booting fine and running at 2666mhz until i used XMP to allow the ram to go at 3600mhz. Its not like i cant use my computer or play anything on it with unstability. it just it wont post all the time. First boot up it just shows an infinite black screen and i dont hear it post. I hold in the button to turn it off then turn it back on. Then it shows the Americatech screen then i hit F1 to go to bios. After i hit save and reset it will boot up normally to windows.

Because i dont want to return it when i have it running fine at 3600mhz. I just am seeing if there is a work around or fix to it not always posting as im out of ideas. its not like it bothers me or stops me from being able to use my computer. It's just more of an annoyance at best.

pretty big issue if it fails to POST a large % of the time... But yeah, it definitely can't run at 3600 MHz in your setup.

The motherboard will and can run up to 4200mhz ram. ITs just the processor isnt made for it. As long as your using XMP you will be fine. The annoyance wont ever go away and i havent found a work around for it. But i do know it will work fine and the failure to post is it searching for Timings. So in therory setting the timings manually might fix it but going through all them numbers even for me is to much. So just keep doing what your doing, your fine!
