Two questions about RGB controllers
  1. What advantages do RGB controllers offer over RGB splitter cables when I'll probably end up using Aura sync.
  2. What are your recommendations for RGB controllers featuring a 5v 3pin ARGB header.

My reason for getting an rgb controller is to test if the RGB on an SSD I'm buying in a couple of months works so I don't end up with an RGB SSD without working lights. Now, the reason I won't just buy a new mobo with an RGB header is because I don't want to buy one just for that and I'll be buying a bunch of high-end components soon.

Controllers are typically similar to splitters, except they usually are just powered by the PSU and not connected to the motherboard. It's advantageous if your motherboard has no or limited ARGB headers. They do tend to be more expensive though.

The best RGB controller on the market is Corsair's Lighting Node PRO iirc.
mobo headers use 12v 4pin, common+12v, and pull down for each r/g/b/w line to control the entire strip
(cm uses this type)

3 pin 5v ws2812b use a serial signal to control each led in the string
(corsair uses this type)

either type can be split ws2812b will copy the serial data to each strip where they are split

Regarding the Node PRO, I don't think it supports ASUS Aura and Corsair case fans would probably look off in the case I'm planning to get
The case I'm planning to buy [www.coolermaster.com]

Corsair makes the best case fans, hands down. Cooler Master's are pretty cheap in comparison, trust me.

I know how good the HD and LL fans are but Cooler Master's fans are in a similar style to the case making it blend better.

Also, I'd have three RGB elements in my PC not synced My RAM MOBO AND SSD's would be controlled by aura, the GPU would be controlled by whatever MSI's software is called and the fans would be controlled by iCUE

Well yeah it matches because Cooler Master uses their own fans, but their fans are louder and don't perform as nicely so if you want to sacrifice performance and near silence for the fact that the fans match up visually, that's up to you.

MSI's software conflicts with iCUE for any Corsair product that is compatible with MSI Mystic Light. I had that issue when I had an MSI 1070 Ti Titanium. Corsair's controllers are usually disconnected from the board completely and are through a manual controller.
