Is this acceptable backlight bleed for an IPS monitor?
I bought a new monitor the AOC AG271QG and am wondering if this is usual for backlight bleed during the daytime: Link[i64.tinypic.com]

The monitor also has a bright (always lit) pixel so I've requested an RMA but just wondering if all IPS panels are like this.

Sorry I used Google Photos, didn't realise that was against the rules.

That looks pretty excessive to me.
Thanks guys, that's what I thought. Apparently it's quite common with this panel so I'm tempted to try out the Dell S2417DG - anyone know if it's still fairly decent even if it's a TN?
That is well beyond the 5% I would let it bleed.

With backlight bleeding, it is always luck of the draw. All LCD panel types suffer from this, not just IPS. It is just an inherent issue because the pixels need a backlight, and it is bound to leak.

As far as your monitor goes, hard to say if that is too much or not by just looking at a picture. Sometimes pictures can make it look worse than it really is, or not pronounce the problem well enough. But with just the picture as judgement, it does look rather excessive.

No way around it, even if you buy high end monitors. It is always luck of the draw. Make the purchase, test it, then make the decision whether to replace or not. This is why I recommend Amazon for monitor purchases, as they are very understanding and willing to accommodate returns for just about any reason within the return window.

I've got a bunch of ips, tn and va monitors and nothing looks anywhere near as bad as yours or even remotely close to.
