GTA V - 83 fps cap.
Hi. I have monitor 144hz Aoc . Using 1080p with 144hz on desktop. Cpu is 8700K and Gtx 1080 Ti.

I have a problem with GTA V. Using all high settings , vsync off in game. After 1 minute of gameplay my fps capping from 120fps to 83fps and stays on 83fps. I must restart game to make fps properly again. How can i resolve this? Nvidia panel settings all default. Game is updated. Thanks

Ah. On Window mode is all ok. No capping to 83fps. Only in fullscreen do this.

Uncheck fullscreen optimizations in the properties of the game's exe file.

^ This

Try that for every game's EXE where you experience this issue in a game on Win10

Also might want to try setting NVIDIA Control Panel's Vertical Sync to Adaptive or Fast and see how that works out too.

Tried adaptive the same. First seconds of game 120-150fps and then bam, 83fps lock. Any ideas? My monitor is 1440p 144hz,but on desktop i have 1080p 144hz.
In game too 1080p 144hz.

Yes, Uncheck fullscreen optimizations like we said.
That was an added game mode feature of Win10 1709 (Creators - Fall Update Edition)

Also please run the in-game benchmark 3 full times and then share the results so we can get an idea of a good average baseline per whatever visual settings you have applied.

After a gtav benchmark has completed, the results will be in here, in a text file:

No sense to make benchmatk if in game is broken. But in window mode ok. And its not related to in game settings lol.

I said that in other applications is ok/

Nothing wrong with the game, just your system/settings.

Omg so you think my hardware is in fault? LOL.
If is in fault then why on window mode is ok, and in other apps is fine.

Well 3 people have suggested the same thing, might be worth actually trying it ... Just an idea though ...

Non sense to make benchmark in game. No matter what results still in game have 83fps cap.
I tested fire strike, time spy stress tests and have 98% passed so its fine.

I didn't say hardware fault. It's your settings.
Do you know how to configure Windows 10? Seriously...

Disable all the crap... start there.
Xbox, DRR, GameMode, Game Optimize... DISABLE

Have you tried what everyone is suggesting yet? Also, sharing scores can be useful even if you think it's ok, as others might spot something you overlooked.

Didn't actually know about this full screen optimisation thing myself to be honest, but I only just upgraded to fcu yesterday and have only been running benchmarks since hehe

Yea it's fine, FOR THOSE THINGS.
There is nothing wrong with GTAV or its Benchmark, so please do it.
If your results are poor, then its your game or OS settings; simple as that.

Yea you need to wipe out all your Drivers and redo them.
Then go disable all the crap I said above, since your OS settings are now on defaults once again.

Yeah, sadly no need for me to worry about wiping drivers, the fcu has a bug where it won't upgrade if you use a Samsung 960 as a boot drive on x299, so had to do a fresh clean install, so all drivers are going in fresh anyway, as the system was clean it's why I've been chasing overclocking results hehe, but I'll keep an eye out for that big if I notice anything running slow, cheers.

To op, glad it's working.
