is anyone getting infinite boot loop with a cursor in the top left? (windows 10 pro x 64)
i just reinstalled windows and experienced it again, but thankfully this video saved me from losing a bunch of important data.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFMzgTJhJGc

I only installed base drivers, and software, then it started doing it again on restart, had to reinstall windows on a separate drive and used the easybcd software and it magically started working again.

anyone know if a recent update has caused this?

couldnt boot to either safe or recovery, had to use a usb stick with windows 10 installation media on it and reinstall.

basically it was like it was in the video. i couldnt do anything. and it happened for no reason at all.

Windows not booting properly can be caused by various things. Assuming you did a proper Windows reinstall; It's most likely a hardware issue. Check the disk's SMART status with Crystal Disk Info and scan for bad sectors by running chkdsk /r in a CMD with admin rights, if any errors are found the disk is dying. You can test the system RAM with Memtest86, if any errors are found RAM is dead and should be replaced.

Since Easybcd fixed the issue most likely the bootmanager was broken which can be broken in tons of ways such as deffective hardware or bugs in Windows.

Checking these two things is where I would start.

i'll try and see if theres bad sectors.

You can access winos boot options, repairs and things of that sort by forcing a failed startup 3x times in a row.

Don't bother doing this with an SSD.

If you bought a new drive and are now experiencing these issues I would just return the drive and assume it to be deffective.

if this is true, its pretty shocking. i never thought an ssd could fail like this. but the thing is it only happens upon restart. i'm typing on the os its installed on and it seems to be working fine at the moment. i'll have to wait and test more to see if it continues. because i bought 2 of them, and both seem to exhibit the same failure on reboot.
Disable Fast Boot in both Bios and Win10

Both in the same PC?

Then unless both are deffective, which isn't impossible but is unlikely it could be a firmware/compatibility issue.

yes, both in my desktop. they were both shipped with the latest firmware preinstalled. i didnt update them since installing them to the motherboard.

i'll try do this, do you know why fastboot causes this issue?

nothing to do with the issue of getting the cursor stuck, but now everything seems to be booting fine, i forgot to delete a boot entry for a previous windows 10 install i did. still no idea what caused the cursor thing to show up. will update thread if it happens again.

Are these drives all new?
Delete all partitions during the OS installer, there shouldn't be any previous os

yeah, all brand new straight from taiwan ssd factory. i deleted all the partitions before installing and formatted again.

so far it seems to be smooth sailing, but i have no idea what caused the boot loop. it happened once before, i cloned from my previous ssd to the new one. then installed a windows update and rebooted. got the boot loop.

So im really not sure which windows update caused it. anyhow, i was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same thing after a recent update.
