Yes but they're overkill. Both can handle 1440p at pretty high refresh rates. You really only need a 2060 Super or RX 5700 XT at most for 1080p 144Hz. If you're only doing 60 Hz, you don't need more than a GTX 16 series GPU.

So say if i went for the rtx 2070 super ultra gaming card, will that run any game on a 1080p 60GHz monitor?

Yes but so will a 1660Ti.
Like already written a RTX2070 Super is overkill for 1080p/60hz.

The card will never be used to its full potential and will be bottle-necked by the CPU long before it reaches full load.
Going for a 1660Ti or similar will give you the exact same performance at that resolution/Hz for much less money.

I recommend getting a RTX 2070 upward only if you plan to play in 1440p at least.

I wish I could tryout an RTX 2070 on a 1440p 144GHz monitor and see if i like it. Would this monitor do well ona rtx 2070 super?

Yes that monitor would be fine. 1440p/144hz is pretty much the ideal sweet-spot for gaming nowadays.

Does the new gpus (2070 and 2080) still work good on 1080p monitors?
Of course. More than that, with my RTX 2070 I cannot get sustained 60 FPS @ 1080 and max settings in some games. Especially if game supports hairworks.

There's cheaper and arguably better.

Better panel, better viewing angle, lower price. AOC tends to overshoot with their monitors imo.

Sure, and you wouldn't need to worry about upgrades for quite a while... something people forget while trying to down sell something weaker.

Get a 2070, and run it for ages, or get a better monitor and not need another GPU upgrade too.

for 1080 gaming you could still use a 980 or a 1060 if i didnt have a 4k or 1440p monitor i would not go for a higher gpu unless i planned on getting the monitor as well, you can easily like Brock said, get a 2070 and go for a monitor or,,,, or get a 1060 6gb and go for a monitor with the left over change? na dont sound good go for the 2070

I have a evga GTX 1070 ftw at the moment, but I was gonna go for the evga GTX 1080 TI but don't wanna purchase a second hand one since I have lost trust in second hand sellers.

To be honest guys, I think I'm gonna go for a 27 inch 1920 1080p 144hz monitor then buy the evga RTX 2070 super ultra gaming card in future. Just need to knwo that if this monitor would able to run on my current card (1070ftw) and a rtx 2070 super ultra gaming card when i get it in winter when it is more cheaper.

If both cards have a Display port, which they do, then you'll have no problems.

But, I don't know why you'd go with a 1080p monitor in 2019.
Grab yourself a good 1440p144hz monitor, like the Dell S2716DG [www.amazon.co.uk]. ( Especially since it's like 10-15 dollars more than the one you want. And you get the same features, Gsync, higher resolution. Although, this is a TN panel, it doesn't have bad colours, I've compared it to IPS panels, and it's pretty much the same, and it's got great viewing angles. TN panels these days aren't bad.)

It depends because most games i play are ment to be capt at 60fps like fallout 4 and skyrim with mods. I used to play alot of gta 5 single player with tons of mods and i know that would do very well on a 27 inch 1440p 144Hz monitor. I dunno if i would like a 1440p monitor since i have not tried it out for myself. I'm kinda clueless what to go for at the moment since I'm currently using a gtx 1070 ftw (mid end card).

Well, with 24 and 27 inch 1080p monitors, you can see the pixels pretty easy, but with 1440p they're too small to see, which is what you want.
It was strange(?) at first, but you quickly adapt to it, downside is, if you look at a 1080p monitor after looking at 1440p, it makes you want to rip your eyes out, lmao.

And, the monitor has Gsync, so, 60fps isn't a problem, it will just drop the refreshrate of the monitor to 60hz (or whatever FPS you're getting) to make it smoother, and reduce latency.

But, you can always return the monitor if you don't like it.

Just a little correction though.
You can't have 'mid end', because there are no ends to a middle, are there? So it would be 'low end', 'mid range', and 'high end.'
