Xbox One Controller not connecting to PC? [Resolved]
So literally nowhere on the Internet does it explain this, so I figured I'd give Steam a shot.

So my PC doesn't even try to connect to my controller when I connect it via USB. The controller vibrates and nothing else happens-- Doesn't say it's connected anywhere or anything.
The drivers for the Xbox One Controller don't exist anywhere on my PC, so they're obviously not installed, and my Windows 10 and controller are both up to date. All links on the Internet for Xbox One drivers have been removed because "Windows 10 automatically installs them!"-- Which is a f*cking lie.

Everyone online just says "connect it" but it doesn't connect. Need possible solutions? I was able to connect my Xbox One controller just fine earlier this year to play Rivals with it, but now I just can't.

Yes the cord and controller work just fine.

You need to use a Data-Sync USB cable.

Why would they make two different types of cables? Is there a certain brand or something that'll work?

Some are Charge-Only; using that kind, the device would not show up.

Thanks, just found out about the fact that the Play and Charge kit DOES NOT CONNECT the controller to PC. What the f*ck. $25 down the drain. Could've just bought a Steam Controller instead.

Even the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cables that come with the PS4 will connect the Xbox One controller to the PC.

Well yea, it's just a charge cable, which are just a $5 USB cable.
Return the Play&Charge cable and buy a regular MicroUSB-to-USB Cable instead, then you'll be fine.

Does Target even do returns? I ripped the packaging up pretty good.

I still have trouble wrapping my head around the "charging-only" cables.

Other non main-brand Xbox One rechargable battery-packs + cable have worked. Why does Microsoft package cables that only charge, when cheaper off-brand versions include actual Micro USB cables that work?

Cause the point of play & charge is for the Consoles; so the Controller would stay connected via Wireless and the cable would just be for charging the batteries.

XB1 official play and charge cables are full data cables as the XB1 controller can be used wired or wireless. As yours isn't working, get it replaced under warrenty. If you can't take it back to the store, MS will replace it for you.
