There will be no issues, but I still recommend upgrading to DDR4, and getting a DDR4 compatible motherboard for the additional performance.
so yes, it is a DDR3 board, and that someone is incorrect.
Skylake does have DDR3 boards, tho they usually use DDR3L
(its 1800 mhz ram but it will only run on 1333 mhz btw. - if I set it to anything else it wont boot)
