Can the ASUS B150M-A D3 use DDR3 RAM with the i5 6500?
Someones telling me that DDR3 RAM will Blow the Memory Controller in the CPU is this correct? the Motherboard says that it supports DDR3 but hes saying that Newegg made a typo, What do you guys think

According to Asus's website, it is not a typo - https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/B150M-A-D3/specifications/

Why would it "blow up" anything?
It will either not work (due limitations), or it will - the latter applies for the board mentioned.

There is no more such thing as a memory controller that can "blow", that is really old motherboards back in the day.

There will be no issues, but I still recommend upgrading to DDR4, and getting a DDR4 compatible motherboard for the additional performance.

so yes, it is a DDR3 board, and that someone is incorrect.
Skylake does have DDR3 boards, tho they usually use DDR3L

low voltage DDR3 and not the regular DDR3 (1.5v-1.65v) for 1st to 4th gen intel core motherboards.

Normal Voltage 1.5v RAM can be used on that board, as shown in the link i provided. 1.35v or lower is not necessary for that board.

my ram was not that old and I didnt want to toss it so I got a ddr3 board with my skylake. it ran fine on 1.5v for a few months but I simply set it to 1.35v manual and it has been working without any issue up to today.

(its 1800 mhz ram but it will only run on 1333 mhz btw. - if I set it to anything else it wont boot)
