Help , GPU Gtx 1060 Gigabye G1 Gaming 6gb .
Fan on and off while idle .. clock fixed 1595 while not playing? is it normal? im so confused now . i checked all programs who uses my GPU but seems pretty cool nobody is using it .

That is normal. On modern GPUs the fan only spins when it needs to.

thanks for replying , Omega . but .. im so insecure right now with my new card . I feel that my fan should not be On and Off while idle. should be off right? but here it is. on and off.. im so scared.

and i dont know if the GPU powers consumes 20% while idle too. sorry im new with monitoring hardwares.

Uninstall the monitoring software and don't worry about the card. This is normal.

You did wipe your old GPU drivers before installing the new ones right?

i believe you that this is normal . yep my old card (gtx960) wiped already . i remember my old card seems not spinning while idle (desktop, google, etc) . and now my new card (gtx1060) , restart computer, i checked the fan... heres the scenario .. Fan stop 1-2 seconds interval fan runs... 1-2 seconds interval again.. fan stop .. repeat. Thanks again sir Omega

Check this monitoring software of yours and tell met at what temperature the GPU is running.

im using Xtreme Engine downloaded from Gigabyte website which i uninstalled awhile ago . and CPUID HWMonitor ... same read tho ...

Temps - 49 degree celcius
Fans GPU - passive right now at 500 RPM
Fans PWM - 16 to 20%
Powers - 20.37%
Clocks | Graphics - 1595 MHz | Min 1595MHz | Max 1962MHz
| Memory - 4007MHz | Min 4007MHz | Max 4007 MHz

like this .. my fan behave like that. is it normal?

That's not normal. You should look into why your clock speed is so high at idle. Check what 3d applications are running and the nvidia control panel settings.

i use DDU and install fresh nvidia driver. now my Clocks GPU is 949 MHz | Min 848 MHz | Max 1595 Mhz .

fan stays 0 idle. power consumption drops to 17 % . how bout this new ?

I have the same card. Fan should not spin while in desktop unless it's been overclocked. I'll check clock speed of mine while it's idle and let you know. I'm using xtream engine as well.

Check the power management 3D settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. If you've set to max performance then it could run higher when using *any* software that uses the GPU, including for example Google Chrome.

thanks for the reply people . appreciate it mans ! im looking forward sir Ghost might as well i add you

I checked mine, GPU clock remains at 139Mhz & memory clock remains at 810Mhz while it is in idle mode.
Big Boom Boom Oct 2, 2017 @ 6:26pm
If you set in NVIDIA control panel to maximum performance the GPU will ignore 2D and 3D mode. Clock will be at maximum base frequency i.e non boost clock, even when idle.

It is quite norm, my GTX 1080 idle at 1850Mhz because of my settings and OC.

@Big Boom Boom , i used DDU and install Nvidia fresh everything means its on default. and now im idling GPU 987 MHz .. some people have GPU clock 130 MHz

boys, now i learned how to do it. i found the culprit . last time .. my Fan is on and off i think its because my GPU temp plays at 50 to 51 ... set my fan curve when 51 fan goes up . 50 goes off..... case end . now my GPU and Memory clocks idle is 987 MHz ... i learned that i got new monitor 144hz and 60hz (dual monitor) ... i change my 144 monitor to 120hz.. now everythings is normal . i got GPU clock 139 MHz and Memory Clock 405 MHz . THANKS EVERYBODY .
