Acer Predator Z35 monitor anyone
I have been looking at monitors and are thinking about treating myself.

I have a MSI GTX 1070 Gaming Z to run it with.

Basically it seems a decent monitor - 2560 x1080p + gsync.

I like high frame rates (100+) so 4k gaming is out at least for a while.

The biggest quesion I have is I know some games cannot handle that resolution.

Is it possible to set the monitor to 1920x1080 for those games. When I do that will it be a 1920x1080p screen with black bars at the sides. I do not want the 1920x1080 resolution to be streched across the screen.
I would like this to be done through the monitor itself and not through a software hack of any kind.

It is critical to my decision to buy it.
Basically if not will not be buying it.

Is anyone else using that monitor?

is it possible?

Naturally any game that can support the native 2560x1080p I will use that.

Thanks

Why not get a 2560x1440 monitor? Your 1070 is a little bit too powerfull for 1080p (Ultra Wide) gaming.

If you run games on a ultra wide that don't support the ultra wide resolution you will have black bars. You can stretch it via software like you said but then it will look terrible.
If running 1080p then you will have black bars either side. I have been using an ultrawide monitor for some time now and only have issues with a few titles. For the most part, someone on http://www.wsgf.org comes up with a solution for the few titles which do not support ultrawide.

Even when there isn't a solution, you can still use a 16:9 resolution without any issues.

There are games I play now I know do not support ultrawide.
As I stated I am not interested in any software hacks, only if it can be done through the monitor itself.

Depends on the monitor. But most likely you can not.

Either just deal with those black bars or edit the config files of those games if possible. Otherwise just get a 1440p monitor.

The 1070 is ideal for 2560x1080p if you want 100+ Hz frame rates.
I do not want to strech the 1920x1080p resolution.
I want to be able to set a 1920x1080p on the monitor and it has black bars for the games that do not support ultrawide.
I am not looking to use any software solutions.
Do you have that monitor?
Is that possible?

That is true.

OK.. I am confused now.. do you want 1080p stretched or do you want to have black bars?

You can just run your games at 1080p just fine and you WILL have black bars.

If you want it stretched you'll have to use software to stretch it.

I do not want to stretch the 1920x1080p . It would look awful.

I want the option of setting a 1920x1080p resolution for the games that do not support it. When this happens would like the 1920x1080p in the centre and black bars on the sides.

Do you own this monitor?
Can you confirm this is possible?
Sorry for confusion.

I have already said multiple times you can run 1080p games just fine on 1080p ultra wide. And you will have black bars on the sides with the image centered.
