Unkown FPS Display will not go away
Yesterday, when I launched Tyranny, there was a strange and obtrusive FPS display in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I uninstalled/reinstalled today, and the display was still there. There are no FPS display programs active on my computer in Task Manager, or even on my computer at all. I fiddled around with settings in steam and nvidia, and, after asking a friend who had never seen it before, I don't know how to get rid of it. How do I get rid of this thing so I can enjoy my game?

Have you tried to disable Steam overlay?

Yea its the game clients FPS counter; why would u want it off?
But if you, do that in Steam Settings; very simple.
Overall, those never on unless you turned them on.

Never disable Steam Overlay; just disable the FPS Counter if u dont want that.

I don't think its the game clients FPS counter. It shows up on other games like Nier: Automata and PUBG too. I have checked my steam settings and I definitely dont have the FPS counter on.

I have tried disabling Steam overlay, and the unknown FPS display still starts when I start most games.

Then its another app doing it; seriously; you should know 100% every little app and setting on your PC; it's YOUR PC. Find it and disable it if you find it to be a problem.

Well I do know every program on my PC, that's why im here. Unfortunately its got to the point where ive turned off every program in task manager (that i can without having the game crash) while the game is running to see what it is. Only the game is running and the display is still there.

Some games have their own in-game FPS counter as well... please check this.

Also I'm not 100% sure, but AMD or NVIDIA might offer this featue as well, per their software.
I don't really use Geforce Experience, so I can't say 100% yes or no, in that regard.

Do you have Nvidia's Gforce on your pc? If so, open it and click the cogwheel. You will see In Game Overlay. Toggle that. It will turn off your fps. (In Gforce, you can decide where to put the fps... in what corner of your monitor or not at all.) Sounds like maybe you did that?

^ He means "Geforce Experience"
Yes please check that. In fact just never install it, not like you need it.

I even went thru and double checked my task manager before and after i launch Tyranny (or any of the other games that cause this mysterious display to pop up) just to see if any programs start that would be the cause of the display. I checked all my programs and apps thru the remove program thing on windows and still cant find the source. Im honestly desparate i hate this display.

Not seen that fps counter before. It isn't GFE or steam unless GFE has changed since I last used it. It has been a while.

If you download Process explorer, you can look at the loaded .dlls and the threads, any loaded modules like overlays will show up

Check win10's Action centre/gaming/ gamemode and/or gamebar
I solved it. It was from a program called SpecialK that i use to fix the resolution issues with NieR: Automata. I simply went in and turned off the (very random) built in fps monitor
