Express vs custom driver installation in GFE
Hey,
a few days ago my PC started giving me BSoD's after launching any game.
I downloaded the latest driver from GFE in hopes that it will fix my issue. After downloading the driver GFE is giving me an express installation and custom installation option. Which should I choose, what are the down and up sides of either?

Pick Express if you're just wanting it to install.

Pick Custom if you want to tweak the installation.

I got that much, I'm just wondering if there's any unnecessary files that can be removed in the custom installation or should I just express install it?

Just Express.

You're BSODs might be caused by a BIOS/UEFI setting that isn't 100% compatible with Windows 10 v1703 Creators Update.

That Windows Update has been hell for a lot of people!

You can exclude installing the 3d cision drivers if you don't need them and geforce experience on the custom install. Personally, I never install those.

Well the story behind the BSoD's is after upgrading to windows 10 about 3 weeks ago, I was able to play every game normally. Then I haven't turned my PC on for about 5 days. I haven't made any updates or changes whatsoever and now a BSoD appears after about 2-5 minutes of game time.
The BSoD says System service exception which means incompatibility. That's why I think a driver updatr might help.

If your motherboard supports a feature called "CPU MultiCore Enhancement" (or similar) turn it off in the BIOS/UEFI as the current version of Windows 10 gives various BSODs with it enabled.

Including SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION,...

it can be a software problem (driver, program) or hardware (pc components overheating or going bad)

as much as possible, list your complete pcs specs (cpu, gpu, memory, storage, gpu driver version) and temperatures (cpu, gpu, chassis)

What is the error message you get?

If you are having issues with display drivers, it's not a bad idea to run DDU in safe mode - https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=845

Once that has finished an rebooted, install the new drivers.

I don't think that is the cause because since the last successful gaming session and now, there were no Windows Updates whatsoever.

It shouldn't be an overheating problem since I gave my PC a nice clean not too long ago.

My specs:
CPU : AMD A8 6600k @3.9GHz
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB (current driver 384.76, can update to 384.94)
RAM: 1x 8GB DDR3
HDD: (don't know much) 1TB

It says System service exception. If nothing else helps, I'll give that a try ^.

Get rid of GFE. That is probably what updated your driver and wasn't needed.

Custom install allows you to install/update certain components of the driver such as
- Physx
- 3DVision
- Nvidia HD Audio

Express will install/update all components of the driver.

A little update. I updated my graphics driver to 384.94, it fixed my BSOD that occured approximately 2 minutes after launching a game, but now instead of a Blue screen my PC freezes about 5-15 minutes of playing a game. I'll try cleaning my PC tomorrow to see if there is any dust blocking my GPU's heat pipes or CPU's cooler. I believe freezes occur due to overheating, but I don't think that much dust could settle in my PC since I cleaned it about a month ago.
