RAM usage 99% with no visible cause.
For starters, here's my system: https://valid.x86.fr/d25cn1

Lately when playing certain games or running certain programs for prolonged times i experience severe stuttering of the whole system. I close the likely culprits known for memory leakage and check my task manager only to find that my RAM usage is maxed out at 99%. And staying there.

Only there is no active process to account for the memory usage. I tried using process explorer but couldn't really find the cause there either (although my ability to interpret PE readouts is limited).

Does anyone know what causes this memory usage? Or know a tool to find out exactly what is using up the RAM, maybe free it up without a reboot?

PS: I should note that i did a fresh Windows install for other reasons not long ago. I experienced the same behaviour before and after.

Not that many. Avast, GFE, Killer Network stuff, Logitech Gaming Software, Samsung Magician and printing utility.

It only happens with programs that are more or less known for memory leaks. Like ARK, long Firefox sessions and the like. What puzzles me is that the RAM isn't freed up once i kill the process.

Resmon gives a better view of what's going on than task manager.

Run it by typing "resmon" in the search bar

I have a gigabyte gaming board and had some issues with the killer ethernet app if you are running that. If you dig around on their website, they do have a driver only download which is what I use. I forget where they bury it though.

You recall what you set your pagefile size to?

Killer NIC is the cause of your memory leak
This has been going on for some time now

Theres a bug between the Killer NIC driver and Windows Network management
You can verify this by searching for it.
You can also search for it on Steam as i have helped a few others with the same problem the past few years.

Download the latest driver
Uninstall Anything related to Killer NIC
Install the latest driver, but ONLY the driver, not the software, unless you specifically need the software.

Killer network is killing your RAM :steammocking:

Download Network driver direct from MSI website, driver only not the Killer rubbish. It's much easier to find now just find your board, drivers and you should have option to download either version. For example only here is a link to my board.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z97-GAMING-3.html#down-driver

Then remove the killer **** and install the driver on it's own.

Killer network software is the biggest load of crap, the QoS doesnt even work right
DL the vanilla pure drivers without its software, the NIC is great its their software that blows
