Gaming laptop stuck at 30 FPS
Hello there,

I am creating this post because I need help about the FPS I am getting when I have the charger unplugged.

I tried putting the prefer performance in the control panel but doesn't work.

Please, can someone help me to fix it? Thanks.

That's the computer trying to save battery over performance.

It isn't something you want to change. Power is reduced to the GPU when on battery to conserve power. You would likely find that you would only get 30 mins of gaming if you were lucky with the GPU at full power when running off the battery.

Go to Geforce experiance and under settings/game just disable the battery boost. You still going to get decreased performance and alot lower battery runtime doing this though.

Hello Bigbeni,

I will try that, thanks for your help.

EDIT: I tried what you told me and works better than before. The thing is the FPS now is 60 constantly without dropping.

But I get more than 60 FPS while the charger is plugged, so I don't know if 60 is the maximum unplugged can get, I don't think so.

You will get decreased performance due to the battery not being able to output the 180watts+ your laptop needs for full performance.

It shouldnt cap at all if you turned it OFF. Sounds like you moved the slider all the way to the right.

The slider is to the left where the "performance" and the "battery boost" is off, then when I open for example the game CS:GO I open the console and I put there the command "fps_max 0" but still 60 fps constantly.

Might be something in your manufactuerers software then, granted you usually get 120fps+. Mine pretty much cuts performance in half but dont lock the framerate.

Yes double check any game setttings (like CSGO) for FPS Locks.
If you are using MSI Afterburner, check that RivaTuner does not have FPS Lock applied.
