Calling via skype mutes all other audio
This started happening today, whenever I make or a receive a call of skype it mutes all other audio (music, games, movies,...).
I already followed the steps in this support article: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Audio-Problems/m-p/1424950/highlight/true#M118220
But skype still mutes all other audio. Any idea how to fix this?
My audio works fine when I mute my mic through the communication tabs but when I enable it again it just mutes everything again except skype.

Double-check that your sound settings aren't set to "Mute all other sounds" following the second part of that guide(Starting with "Press WinKey + R to open the Run window").
There isn't really much in the way of anything else that could cause this.
Post your computer specs and what OS you're running.
HP Envy series 700 desktop
Windows 8.1
8GB ram
Radeon R7 240
If i'm missing anything just let me know

I just used the test call option in skype and the following happend to my speaker icon in the bottom right corner of my screen.
http://imgur.com/TW9N0n0, i've put a badly drawn circle around it but.
If I click on the speaker icon it opens up a window that start searching for solutions for an audio problem and the only way to get my speaker icon back to normal and get my audio back is by closing down steam and skype which I just had to do.
Note: this issue also happens when calling through steam itself, I have yet to test teamspeak but I expect the same problems.

Right click Speaker Icon in lower right taskbar, click Playback Devices, click Communications tab @ top, select "Do Nothing" and then click OK.

Next time u have Skype open, left click on that Speaker icon again and click Mixer. Then see if any Volume levels for other open apps are changed. When u have multiple apps open (even Games) u can set each to their own volume with that mixer.

At least in Win7 there are settings that lower other sounds. Settings are in: Control Panel/ sounds and there 4th tab. They couldn't hide those options elsewhere in Win8

If you have windows 7, search Sound in the task bar.

Then go to: Communication -> Do nothing.

Win8, 8.1, 10 are the same way.
