Why don't you add it directly to your nickname ?
And any way as a server owner i can tell you i like these as it means i can also see who is made the server group his main group and also mark it is something that is not part of the name in game
As well when you mod its easyer to know who is who if you don't have 100 walking around with [Blade]Name
Then everyone call them Blade.... and think abut TTT when every time some one that add it to there name is getting KOS
They say KOS Blade and then some one kill me then they say nooo not black blade but [blade]name
Got it XD
Like I said, it isn't a huge deal for me because there is only one person in my group(me) but for a server owner like Black Blade, or a group leader, it could help them out a bit.
As no other game was created with this in mind, it loses all interest for me.
There are groups, however, that don't exist to be "competitive elite team", and yet, they, as you phrase it, "have a point" : regroup players, who have a common interest, like all groups made...
In that case, what would be different ?
The OP wanted to display his clan tag, which can be recreated by modifying his nick.
So, I don't see the difference between [Team]Guy (by hand) and Team|Guy (show tag option)...
EDIT :
I don't think this will be enough, sadly....
My ingame name is Parker, If every upcoming STEAM online game had the show tag option, I could be UGH│Parker in them all, or in none, whichever is your preference. But since only one game has this, I have to continually change my name to and from UGH. Not much would be different, but the option to have it there would be helpful.
Sometimes I would like to show the tag if playing with friends. Sometimes I don't want to show the tag at all. It would be a little easier if I showed it in CSGO, and hid it in TF2, and Showed it in Dota. Then when I get on TF2, its already hidden without me having to change my name. When I get bored and go play Dota, It auto shows it.
Then at any point if I want to change it, it would become just like the hassle of changing your name is....Go into your options > uncheck the box.
________
Maybe on your STEAM profile game you could choose which games to preference which tags to? Seeing as I am in a few groups for different games. Just an idea over having to change my name every time I get on a different game.
Dota:
[r^2] Parker
CSGO:
UGH│Parker
TF2:
[420swaghashtag] Parker
or whatever yours may be.
Also in Game it will show you as Blader -> Black Blade
And not Black Blade and the score bored Blade -> Black Blade
When you pogream something you also want it not to be with the group tag
Like when you want to ban/kick someone if there name is [Blade]Name and i have like 5 name [Blade]something
Then if someone type in [Blade] they will kick/ban them all...
Also like he say you can edit the name but you have these real nice thing why not use it?
Also it blocks scamming abut it if you are in a closed group with some tag the group tag cant be copy and put before the name if the tag is part of the name anyone can come and add it to there name and say he is part of that or that
With group tags you can stop it from happening because each group has a unique group tag that cant be copyed
