Wishlist Feature: Add Games Already Owned
I'd like to be able to add games I already own to my wishlist to be notified of pricing drops, etc. This cannot currently be done (or at least I am unable to determine how to add games I already own to my wishlists).

TIA

That is because it is your wishlist and not anothers wishlist. There would be no point in adding a game you already own to it.

How about an option to recive a notice when a game in a friends wishlist is on sale instead?
If I want to collect a list of games I would like to someday gift to somebody else (who may or may not even have a Steam account), why not allow me to put it in my wish list? Furthermore, why not offer functionality to maintain multiple lists. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

Because you own the game and someone may buy it thinking you don't have it, wating their money to get you a game you already have.

There is no need for more then on wish list.

You seem to be trying to solve your probelm in the wrong way. Instead of extra management, how about a newletter with all the current sales on it? One that would go out with every major sale change. Then you can see what is on sale and decide if you want to buy it for trading in the future.
I support this idea.

That definetly sounds better.
Sort of a 'subscribe to this wishlist' button. So you're aware what your friends want and when it goes on sale.
True i agree with you no point in adding a game you already have but to notice i agree entirely

What good does it due to be alerted to people's wish lists who are not even on Steam? You are missing the point.
Not to mention, say you want to gift someone a Steam game (whether or not they are on Steam) you already own, but only when the price drops below a certain level (i.e. NewEgg.com wishlist functionality). There is no way to be alerted to that if you are not able to add games you already own to wish lists.
Really sorry but i dont think its a good idia.

if people will add random games to white list it will be confusing.
i think that its a good idia but we need to make are own list.
say...
"Double list"

or i donno.
ok that was stuped as ♥♥♥♥. *bad words sorry*

ANYWAY
sorry not a good idia. :spycon:
Why won't your friend who wants it put it on his own wishlist and then warn you if the price goes down?
Some people just don't understand gifting and wish list maintenance. Here's to a more robust wish list functionality on Steam in the future *raises glass*!
I'm on board with this idea, or a similar one, and I don't think Spawn of Totoro is being very helpful.

I understand the point of someone else buying you something you own - but then how about a basic 'price alerts' list? That's really all we are asking about.

Frankly, that's all I have my list for, anyway.

Also, there are a variety of reasons why I may want to buy a game for someone who doesn't even have it on their own list.
I'd love to have that, too.
My friend isn't even on Steam yet, so friendlist watching wouldn't cut it.
So Steam doesn't help me to pull another user to the platform...?
I'd also like this feature for exactly the same reasons as Skowronek.

The possible implication that SoT mentioned could be easily solved by adding a conspicuous "Already Owned" label next to the item in wishlist.
