well i don't really know but i think you can also just cut the game from disc number 1 to disc number two then reinstall it to there and the game will find its installed and will go faster

Hey, this looks somewhat like my suggestion: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/864975632250905509/

While talking about that, some people even mentioned a couple of tools called Steam Tool[www.stefanjones.ca] and Steam Mover[www.traynier.com] that kinda already do what we want.

There is a lot of people asking for this it seems...
you may simply copy the games from your steamapps folder to the steamlibrary/steamapps folder in the other hard drive. They you'll start the instalation process of the game normally and direct the instalation to that folder (d:\steamlibrary\steamapps)...it will discover the files then, and not download them...believe me, with 513 games, I have 3 HDs here...it works

The only problem with that, is stated in my suggestion. You might end up copying a game to some drive only to find out, when installing it, that you "don't have enough space" even if the game is already there.

Well, it never happened to me, I only have a window here "discovering the files". sometimes, it downloads a few files, I don't know exactly why...but it is rare. Well, if you start it and it starts a download, then you made something wrong. It will ignore the moved folder of the game and download it again. you need to delete the downloading folder and download indexes, put the folder in there again and try installing again. You need the discoverying files message.

The steam move is a good tool, but it creates points of junction between the drivers, fooling the system as if it was yet in drive c. It was an excellent solution, before steam folder library, in my opinion.

Installing and adding folders directly in your library, and, if you have other HDs, to install steam in any other than C, will keep all the structure, even after a reformat, reinstall. I already did it here twice. It works really well.
