No more "Impossible" achievements
I would like to speak about the success that I consider to be "impossible" (which are not actually really impossible).
Not achievements like "Platinum God! 100% the game (Binding of issac)"
Wich are just really hard and request skill and patience, those
"Addict
You have wasted a year of your life playing GMod!"
(that mean you have to play 8 765+ hours)
or
"Blockbuster
Achieve 100,000 YouTube™ views for your movie"( Team Fortress 2 )
(there is more of them)

I think these achievements push the player to use Achivements unlocker.

I will take "blockbuster" achievement for example, there is currently 2.2% of player with this achievement, referring to steam stats the peak of player for today only is 72,897 (I cannot find the total number but there is a lot more)
How much is 2.2% of 72,897 player ? 1603, that means there is much more than 1603 player
with this achievement, try to find 1603 people on Youtube™ with a least 100.000 views.

These achievement are not really impossible but I think they should not be there.

What I think steam should do is :
1. Do not allow new games to make "impossible" achievements.
2. Maybe delete these from steam (but I think i will be impossible because some people did not cheat to get them)
3. Any other suggestions/comments ?

Sorry every mistakes/misunderstanding, I am not really good at English but I am trying to do well.

Idd that Tf2 one is pretty lame. Achievements are best when they are obtainable by being good at the game. Not being popular on Youtube.
"mpossible Boy
Complete The Cotton Alley Dark World without dying"
This is a good Achievement because it requires you to be insanely good at Super Meat boy.

I wonder how exactly that pushes people to use some sort of an achievement unlocker. It's not like you look at them and feel them achieved afterwards.

Well just like saying if you see there is no 0.0% that got it i think its a great achievement as it means someone got it so its hard? so its hardcore? the point is that its the idea if you dont have the "skill and patience" so maybe that achievement is not for you.... as that is all the point of it... if all achievement were like "You have started the game", "you have press a butten" (just kidding dont get hurt i am just moveing the idea) so some (like me) will stop trying to get them as its not fun if its too easy and abut like one year wasted it can also just take a few years to get... but just think how good (or really really wasted) you will feel then when you got something that look "impossible" and the 100,000 views dose sounds just crazy... (i am a youtuber (starter) so i know) but really is not that hard i think... i mean i started not long ago and i got 33 views for a video i upload less then a week ago... so it will take time... but it possible also remmber its views that means if you load the youtube page 100,000 times you get it... not really impossible
Hope you got what i mean to say

I just love seeing the OCD people squirming due to those obnoxiously difficult achievements messing with their compleion goals. It makes me smile and remember why i dont' care about achievements.

well im part OCD takeing my time on them
Steam has no control over what achievements a game company puts on their games. They just get the lists and upload with the game. Tampering with a game's achievement list would not be a good idea either because then there would be a differance between the xbox/PS4 version and the PC version which means code would need to be changed for the different versions and no game company wants to waist the time to alter some code so the achievables are different from one system to the next
The game creator can choose to put whatever achievement they want, and valve wouldn't be able to stop them. Also, probably the worst achievement on steam is killing floor's Portal 2 achievement, which was meant to be impossible (but people found ways around it), and was time-locked, so you could only get it in a few weeks time.
garry's mod one year wasted is impossible to get
I don't care in the least if other people use an achievement unlocker. Same way I don't care if people download a super damage mod in Skyrim or use godmode while they're playing some FPS. How on earth does it hurt me?

I want tough challenges in my games, and other people's choices shouldn't restrict that.

Why not? if you like to play Gmod you will get it.. in like 2-3 years or 5-6 10-death from heart attack geting one year wasted
I don't think it is a bad idea to put really hard achivements into a game. After all, they are called ACHIEVments, not Iconsyougetforfree. So you have to achieve something. It requiers patients, skill and dedication. Something ~20years ago every game requiered (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Nintendo%20hard), but with todays easy games, it seems like everybody wants everything as fast as possible because everything else is a waste of time. Achievements are only the prime example. Just take a look at what speedrunners do: they play the same game hundreds of times to get perfect at it. That is a real achievement, not walking through a door.
Just take a look at World of WarCraft, which I think has a good balance. Their are the really easy ones (get a haircut), their are the hard ones (kill a certain boss under certain circumstances) and the really hard ones. Some aren't even obtainable anymore, mostly they were tied to a certain timelimited event or the contet was removed.

Long story short: If you want those really hard achievements, get your ass up and train to get them. Nothing really worth in life is free.
I don't mind hard achievements like higher difficulty or challenges, but imo when it comes to achievements that are too time consuming or takes more grinding then skill then it's not something id want to go for. Kind of like the Gears of War 3 achievement for getting like 35 Onyx medals.

I will clarify a little what I wanted to say, I like Hard achievement like, do the whole game without taking damage , collecting every single secret, making 20 kill in 10 sec (these are just an example) and in fact I already have a lot of game with 100% but playing a year to get an achivement is just insane ... and for the "blockbuster achivement" I feel like this should not be in this game it should be a youtube achievement ... (even if there is none :p).

One year dont mean in one time... so it will take a few times... what abut "I am garry" i think that is even harder to get then one year... so ya it will take some years to finsh it..
The achievements I hate the most are the time-locked ones. I'm a completionist and it really bothers me when some achievement added years before I got the game prevents me from having all the achievements. That hasn't happened yet, but Killing Floor is killing the OCD part of me.
