Achievement Rewards
I think that achievements should actually do something, other than just sitting there making your ego bigger. The reward I think should be implemented is real life money. Obviously, you would be giving away money, so the rewards shouldn't be too big. I think it should be say, a dollar for every game you complete, as in get all the achievements. A dollar does not have to be the set amount, but somewhere around there.

So you're asking to be paid for being entertained.

Seems that way. It's amazing how many people post here wanting something for nothing.

Wow. An achivement hackers dream. Over 1000+ dollars for hacking an achivement system. Great idea!

That's taking things too far. A badge is all an achievement hunter needs to be satisfied.

Think of it this way: How is it any different from reward points at companies and such? We buy a game, we go through it, we buy the next game. They would just be helping along that process by giving us essential coupons, as the 'money' wouldn't have any cash value.

If they are able to be hacked, that's their problem.

Serious? You already have coupons, it's called the steam winter and summer sale. Oh wait I almost forgot the valentine sale, Halloween sale, autumn sale, daily sale, midweek sale, weekend sale, and lord knows what other sale Valve has in the pipeline for the future.

The only thing the steam platform lacks is a more social gamer-centric cosmetic system for our profile.

I'll entertain your idea though. Fine Valve should give a gamer a one time use of .00001% discount on a game of their choice upon beating a game. (clearing all achievements)

Then why would they risk it? To lose money?

People do it the legit way, money lost, people hack it, money lost.

No company is going to throw away money like that.

At least they've become more and more inventive in the way of asking for it.
they no longer ask 'CAN I HAS FREE GAME PLZZ?!' anymore

You already get a reward you unlock the achievement and it shows yourself and other people that you achived it. The achievements are great as they are.

If we went with your logic then developers should give $5 to everyone who completes their games. $10 if they complete it 100%.

its like Xbox live points for achievements except its money going into steam wallet
SinSchism 17 DIC 2012 a las 5:55 p. m.
A better solution (and more in-line with the rewards points) is not in achievements, but in purchasing games. Maybe sign up for a program that gets you back 3% back. That way, a $10 game would rake you in a whole $0.30 That would keep your money focused on the Steam system because most people would still drop some into their steam wallet to fill out the cost of the game they really want.

If a runner manages to outrun all of their competitors in a race, they are given a medal, a trophy, or a ribbon as a symbol of their achievement. They're not just told "Congratulations! You win!" and be expected to be satisfied with that.
I'd like to see a system allowing steam users to trade achievement "points" for gaming merchadise like posters, figures, possibly clothing. In order to fund it, steam could start charging a couple bucks once a month for us to use steam. Considering how much money I save buying games on steam, I certainly wouldn't mind giving them a few extra bucks to pay for this and i'm certain there are lots of other steam users who would agree with me. :)

Considering there are very few steam games that are cheaper than their store counterparts (even at sale time), i can't see having to PAY to use steam (when you are FORCED to for some games) being a very popular idea.
