WQHD or 1080p Triple Monitor Gaming?
Which one would you guys invest in? My main use is primarily gaming.. otherwise it's doing homework (no photo/video editing,etc.). I've been trying to decide for a while which one would be a better decision for me. Personally, I like the surrounding effect of the triple monitors. Also, I think having the multiple monitors would be nice for being more productive on my homework. Do you guys think that multiple monitors will continue to be supported in games or do you guys think multiple monitor setups will begin to fade out?

What would be some of the advantages of a WQHD monitor over a 1080p monitor gaming-wise? Do you get more of a field of view on a WQHD then a single 1080p monitor when playing games? Would the WQHD be a better decision to future-proof monitor-wise, or will either one be a safe bet?

BTW.. I'm probably going to spend around $400 on a setup, and my GPU is a single Gigabyte HD7970 GHz Edition 3GB.. My graphics card should be ample enough for either setup, right?

EDIT:
I should also mention that the games I mostly play are FPS (BF 3, LFD,etc.).. Also to add to my specs, I have an i5 3570k and 750W PSU if any those also factor in.

WHOA! That looks crazy! Are they going to be supported by future games?

This one supports it from my understanding, and I think that TF2 does as well.

We will have to wait to see if intrest picks up after the Developer release.

Anyways, do you guys think multimonitor gaming will stick around? Should I invest in a cheap wqhd? Im thinking about eiher purchasing 3 ASUS VS228H-P 1080p monitors or the Monoprice 27 in WQHD display.. The 3 monitors would be cheaper than the single monitor by $40.. Would either of these be okay?

Also, would the triple monitor setup be more taxing on the gpu compared to wqhd? Will my 7970 ghz 3gb be able to handle either setup fairly well?

I would just get a regular 1080p monitor with a good refresh rate. I preffer the Samsung brand.

You could get a HDTV and connect your computer to that. Then you could save on space too. :-P

Well you are going to have a ♥♥♥♥♥ and a half getting 3 monitors on that card to begin with.

AMD only allows 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) to be enabled simultaneously via passive connections, you will need a active connection beyond 2, meaning you will need an active miniDP-to-DVI adapter. if your monitors don't support it then you are screwed before you start.

Triple+ Monitor gaming is not going to vanish but it's a small crowd that actually does this, it will still be supported for many generations to come because AMD and Nvidia love to benchmark that crap even if it is for little to no gain finacially.

I've never been for the WQHDs and don't care for them at the price yet. Your gpu is going to strain like a ♥♥♥♥♥ with each additional monitor added. That means if you can play max settings on one monitor by the time you get to the 3rd split in high resoultion chances are you going to be in medium settings just to have decent performance.

I highly recommend Crossfire for triple monitor gaming else you are going to be sorely disappointed when all said and done.

Hopefully that gives you a better idea of what you are getting into.
