Mouse gestures for browsing around Steam
I use mouse gestures all the time in my web browser. So much so, that I regularly do a "back" gesture when using Steam to go back a page while browsing the store or the forums, haha. Would it be possible to add some simple mouse gestures, say, to go back and forward a page?

I use Opera web browser which has them built in, but they're available in other web browsers through extensions. In Opera they work like this: -

If you hold down the right mouse button and flick the mouse to the left then let go of the button, you go back a page. Flick the mouse to the right and you go forward a page. There are a lot more gestures, but back and forward are all that Steam would need I think.

Basically, it saves you having to move the mouse pointer to the upper left of the screen to hit the back or forward buttons every time while you're navigating around. After using mouse gestures for a while, it becomes second nature.

I see... well i have a mouse with a back and foreword buttons... they do the job on Steam... any how.. need to see maybe some program can make it so when you do that it will "press" the back and foreword like you say i think you can find something like that

Yeah, that would be good too! I'm not sure if it's easy to add to Steam from a programming POV, as it's not a web browser, but parts of it do work in a similar way so maybe it would be possible.

When using Mac products, you are used to using gestures on your magic mouse, your trackpad or whatever.
When Valve is building steam for Mac they should have included support for these. I would guess that this is really easy to implement. It's just a matter of recognising that gesture and browse back when it occurs, just as you would when you click the back button (arrow).

I'd also like to get gestures (mainly the 3-finger swipe back gesture) working. I think BetterTouchTool may be a good way of getting this working, I'm going to try it out (intend to install it anyway to fix Maverick's missing back gesture in Finder).

The steam client is basically a bad browser showing www.steampowered.com . Just go there yourself in opera?
