Edit 2 (forgot to add): The way you say this makes it sound like Microsoft already has a good
PC platform, which they don't (aside from steam), Minecraft Launcher, sucks I need to sign into
Microsoft store to play, Minecraft the game is mid same as before.
Source code is here https://repo.steampowered.com/steamos/ if you are worried check the source code.
I also don't believe that it is their business to tell game companies to stop adding spyware to their
games, that is your job, your community.
Edit: here is the kernel https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steamos_kernel
That's a handheld portable. Likely not someones main gaming platform.
He left because he hated it.
The odds of him selling Steam are already low, the odds of it going to MS are basically 0.
He loved MS.
Uncle Phil and Mr Newell are going to come together and SAVE our gaming
If I can make people understand one thing about software development, it is that bugs are only easy to fix once they have already been fixed.
In the same way that I could very easily provide you with a text file containing the text of any Wikipedia article or any book on Project Gutenberg, and a novice film editor could make Citizen Kane because someone else already did all of the work.
Once you have figured out what's causing a bug, you have effectively fixed the bug. And figuring out what's causing the bug is not something that you can always know ahead of time how long it will take. For something as complex as a web browser, especially a problem that doesn't happen reliably, it can take a long time for someone to figure out what's going on.
He claims gaming on SteamOS is a fail. The millions of Decks sold say otherwise.
Even if what you say is true, better studio productions =/= better management or marketing. Kind of like with Disney; fantastic animators, artists, and writers, awful corporate bean counters who cripple their talent and sabotage their projects.
Microsoft would probably force Steam users to pay a monthly subscription just to keep their accounts, if their treatment of the Windows 11 system is anything to go by. Steam's purpose is to host so many more games than Valve's own, we only have to buy the license to most of them once, and just passively having an account is free. I'll take Valve owning Steam until the end of its days, assuming things continue to be the way they are.
As a 16 gig android device steam deck has potential to improve the quality of game play for Android based games, as a PC 16gigs of shared ram is hardly enough to even play frogger for a hour with that battery drain.
By the way android os on steam deck would increase the battery life for usersl
And I have no clue why you think steam deck loses battery so fast due to Linux or how Android would magically fix it, not to mention the deck’s battery life is pretty solid all things considered.
