Spring sale for who? - Seasonal language that corresponds to hemisphere
It would be nice if the language used to describe sales were applicable to both northern and southern hemispheres. For example, the current "Spring" sale is only actually applicable to countries in the northern hemisphere.

Steam is a globally used platform and although proportionally, the number of users in the southern hemisphere is lower than those in the northern hemisphere, there are still millions of users in the southern hemisphere from what data I've found online.

My suggestion is to either modify the UI for users depending on their location (i.e. the current spring sale would say autumn sale for the southern hemisphere), or, perhaps more simply, change the language to be "March Sale" instead of using seasons. Of course, there might be other ways of solving this challenge.

Although perhaps relatively unimportant, I think that adjusting the language here would be more inclusive and relevant to the millions of users who reside in the southern hemisphere.

They actually did it once. For a Summer Sale.

If you were on the northern hemisphere you had a Summer Sale theme and if you scrolled to the bottom of the page you saw an inverted 'winter sale' banner. On the southern hemisphere it worked the other way around.
They already do this, sort of.

The Brazilian Portuguese translation of the client actually changes the names of the sales to reflect the seasons of Brazil. The current sale, for example, is the "Autumn Sale."

The Latin American Spanish version of the client doesn't, though, although it makes sense because not every Latin American Spanish country is in the Southern Hemisphere.

So I'm sure implementing this is already technically possible, Valve probably just doesn't consider it worth the effort.

Change of season sale. Games are on sale. Don't fret over the name of it so much.
My suggestion would be to simply name each sale "Steam Seasonal Capitalism Sale (Month)" And not fret over the name of the month so much.

Seriously who actually cares what its called, it could be called the "this time of year sale".... games are on sale and that is what matters, the name doesn't.

Buy or don't buy, simple as that.
>This criteria isn't universally true for all people so it should be removed
Ah, the classic impulse behind most of the criminally boring decisions in corporate culture.

Don't expect it to change as Valve is located in Washington state, in the northern hemisphere.

This didn't go over as well as they thought either...

Who cares what it's called, you're getting games for cheaper. Good lord.
