RMA for Steam Deck
I was told to come here and discuss this matter so that Steam team can get some feed back on the RMA process and perhaps help others in the future.

I happen to have an issue with my steam deck, the left thumbstick had problems.

So after doing research I decided to send it into Steam to have it fixed. Steam was awesome, send me an email with shipping details. It was easy and great.
When I got my deck back, I noticed
1. Steam RMA techs remove any skins you may have (which is fair, they need to open your device to fix it and the sticker might be a hindrance) Fair. I was accepting of this loss. No biggie.

2. I went ahead and inserted my 512gb Micro sd card but I noticed something didn't feel right.. it didn't "click in" or "fit right" I realized that the RMA tech bent the opening so now my Microsd card was jammed in there, and ofcouse you cannot open the deck without first removing your SD card or you'll break it.. therefore I had to use two sewing needles and lots of time to pain staking remove the card. (I damaged the SD card and looks like i will have to buy a new one)

3. When I turned on my deck my screen had been damaged, it was an obvious Thumb print (like the RMA Tech pressed on the screen so hard that it literally imprinted his/her thumb print on the screen, which damaged the pixels.)

so I had to reach out to RMA again, show them photos of the new damage and thus again Return the deck.

So.. my advice for anyone reading this.

1. Use Steam RMA, they are great to Deal with, very friendly and easy to work with.

2. Video/photograph and record everything prior to sending in your deck for any RMA work.

3. When you get your deck back from RMA record everything (even opening the shipping box just in case of any new damages) 1. Do not use your good Micro SD card, find a garbage one and test it first. Turn on your deck in a very dark/blacked out room in order to confirm your screen is functioning properly. Immediately check for and do any and all updates to the deck. Then run a full test on each and every button.

That's it.

In my case.. RMA offrered to replace my deck with a brand new one due to these issues, but I've been down over a month without a deck during this while process. I asked the RMA team if there is anything they can do re: my lost skin or even my damage to my Micro SD card, and they unfortunately said no.
But they did say sorry and suggested I post here my views and outcomes.

Are you suggesting things to users or Valve?

for both really :) just a heads up to users and a heads up for valve to maybe warn customers to test the product fully when it is returned. So that it both protects the customer and valve.
Imagine if every RMA return with additional damages or ends up causing sd card damages to the wrong person who kicks off and goes on a social media riot just to prove his point. That's not cool for Valves reputation, as right right now the valve and rma team have great social reputation.
I don't, I guess I just felt a bit bummed because I haven't had my deck for over a month, and now I have to spend even more money for something that should have never happened. it just sucks is all.

There is a Steam Deck discussion area with a requests area, post there. This area has nothing to do with the deck and no one that has anything to do with the deck will be looking in this area.

They tell everyone to post here when they don't deal with what ever the issue is, usually a suggestion. And we wish they would stop and tell them to post in the proper places or not at all.
