Add an "ai-assets" tag
I've come across several games that have used AI synthesized voices or images. It's distracting and pulls me out of the game; and I'd love the ability to filter out such games from my store experience. Please add a tag that users can apply to games pertaining to whether the game uses AI voices/ images/ etc.

What's the difference between Ai-voice acting and bad voice acting?

Bad voice acting has a name you can look at and make fun of for said bad voice acting.

A few days ago (March 14th) I saw completely unrelated people incorrectly accuse two separate recently released games (Two Point Museum and Wanderstop) of being made using generative AI. It really has become a meaningless word people throw at anything they don't like for any reason, like the names of various mental disorders and whatever people are calling games that depict women this week.

Steam already has a system in place where game developers who use generative AI, either during development or at runtime, must describe that both to Valve and to any potential customer on its store page (just above the system requirements and the mature content description).

If you have a specific game you think actually used generative AI and didn't disclose it, you can report the game via its store page (choose Legal and then explain that it uses genAI without disclosing it and how you know that). That's why Call of Duty has a disclosure on its page now.

Valve isn't going to add "negative tags". There won't be a tag you can apply to any game you think has bad art. Tags are to help people find games they want to play, not a method to anonymously harass developers.

You can look on any social media platform, and find instances of people canceling artist for using AI, even when the artist in qustion isn't even using AI and has WIP images posted, for the drawings accused of being made by AI

Yeah, the witch hunting has gotten out of control really.

Dysmantle used AI voices and it's immediately noticable. It made the whole experience feel cheaper and I wouldn't have purchased it had I know it used them

The dev used a voice synthesizer to produce the type of voice effects. I would go into more detail but that is spoiling the games story.

It really is a bit strange (I saw the story as well), you would think that they would just move on, but its almost like they want to harass someone for using AI (even if they havent), as if they don't understand that its just another tool for creative people to use.

Back in the day I would draw, scan things in and finish them in an art tool, I don't remember any artist saying to me you need to finish it by hand or with a paint brush or something as stupid.

Every game that uses AI art must disclose on the main store page that it uses AI art.
So, a tag would be redundant.
