Local Split Screen Gaming feature integrated into steam instead of games (New Concept for an old idea)
I really enjoy split screen and local co-op games such as Broforce or Speedrunners as they are very fun in party settings, but these are to rare.

Using the steam client, Valve should add the feature to start multiple copies/instances of a single game (using someone elses account for username or a "Guest" account that is a ghost/temporary account user name for that gaming session) and run a compleatly new copy of a game on a local machine. Add classic split screen setups as well as the ability to use individual monitors for individual instances of the game. This would add local co-op for online only games moving Steam even closer to being a complete substitute for consoles (given steams recent push toward the living room) All the settings to modify/handle which inputs go to which instance of the game as well as monitor/screen setups could be set up in steam settings or the Shift+Tab in-game menu.

I would really like to see this feature so that I could play a game that was meant to be online multiplayer, with my younger siblings, or even friends who don't have their own gaming grade PC's to bring over to parties that turn into lan parties. The games would play exactly as if you were playing on two seperate PC's and playing on the same server, but you'd be using one PC with two or more instances of the game running with less screen realestate (Unless you had multiple monitors and mapped game instances to monitors rather than splitting), I realize that this would put a heafty load onto our PC's but some PC's out there can handle such a load, and on top of that, quite frankley, it would just be advised to not try and run 8 copies of Heavily modded Skyrim (with some sort of multiplayer mod) on a PC, as that is just not meant to be. This would be more for mid-range and lower games and maybe a few really well optimized higher end games.

For those of us PC gamers who think local co-op games and split screen is stupid for PC, Our libraries are filling with more mainstream games that consoles would typically allow local Co-Op, and this is being stripped from some of our games. Plus PC is moving more towards a console replacement than ever! I don't plan to debate the merits of splitscreen PC gaming as it is only an opinion which will vary with everyone, but I ask you this, Would it hurt to have this feature added? Why not? It's always nice to have more options, and this would open up a new option for lan parties and what not where not everyone has a gaming grade machine.

I will love to see more Co-Op games

How ever doing something like you say, if its even really possible to do without messing up most PC's
Honestly i do not think is the right way to go

First il say these sounds like a mess, and i really do not know if its even possible to do it

I think if we want more Co-Op Local games we need to get the Devs to make them, for all the games
If we can start to get some companies to see PC as something also for living room i think that they will start giving more games with that, if its CoD or anything else, i will love to play some Local Co-Op games with my family on the PC
But i really well prefer to have a real Local Co-Op game then a made up thing
Also from your idea, why not just get a second PC for that?

I agree I think the Devs should do it for the best perfomance in game, but I feel like a lot of developers see that as a waste of time and won't put in the effort...

As far as buying a second PC for that, I do have a second account (MetroidaronGuest) On my old PC, but that requires buying duplicate games as well as another gaming grade system which is a lot of money to spend that I don't have.

I want to see more games like this, and I just thought if Valve integrated a blanket system within the Steam that would enable Local Multiplayer on all games, even though it might not be efficient, would suffice in situations where it wasn't included in games. Also If the idea was popular Dev's might see that and start integrating Local Multiplayer into more games...

Got it, and i understand

Abut the idea, well as Valve said abut linux when users ask to get Steam to use Wine or something like that so it can play windows games (not sure if it was really a reply from Valve, or only a rumor, or i miss understand it) from what i understand they reply something like that games need to be made for the system, and not workaround to it

And its the same here, if devs will know Steam has something like these, they may think in a way of "why to even work for these games, Steam has something to do it for us"

I think these is great, and i do hope they do it, but i do not think it needs to come in a form of a work around, but as in a real form of real Local Co-Op game

Also some games have Local Co-Op on Console but not PC (Call of Duty for example), so for them i do think it may be less work to get the same thing also to PC, as then the Console and PC are more of the same... (but hell i may be wrong :D:)

One way to support these i think, will be to get a group, to show support, to show we want these on PC as well
Maybe even to get more games that give it, and make it more popular, or ask games with Local Co-Op to come to Steam (I will love it if a game like Sports Friends will come to PC from the PS4) and also ask the publisher/dev of the game abut it, to show them we want it
