I do have a different suggestion though. Instead of publicly showing "Profile Views: <amount>", there could be a graph that shows the amount of traffic for the month or week but does not accumulate over time. You receive a lot of traffic, it goes up. And if you don't, it goes down. There is no total and nothing to "collect" but I don't know if that would solve the issue I brought up. But overall I just don't know if any of this is even really needed in the first place. If you're popular, you don't need a view count to tell you that you are. Haha.
I would ignore the invites if they're from completely private profiles because it's more than likely not a good sign. You could also make them leave a comment on your profile with a reason for adding.
