It's the forcing me to look at something disgusting in order to access the store that I have an issue with. I can avoid the content by simply not buying the game, but if I want to go to the store right now there's a giant banner right in my face showing me nightmare fuel. I can't get rid of it by marking it "not interested".
I'm not complaining about the existence of the game. I'm sure a lot of people like it and will enjoy playing it. I am not one of those people. I don't like death and gore and evil looking things. It bothers me. What I'm complaining about is having it shoved down my throat anyway when the M-rating clearly indicates that it's known to offend some people.
I'm not sure that the M-rating argument really holds here because the content of the game was rated, not the relatively bland promotional materials.
I doubt there's a good solution for this problem. Lots of games have scary, angry faces in promotional artwork, just like lots of games have cleavage, or guns, or whatever. Until it gets taken down you might just want to set steam to go directly to your library instead of the store, and if you must use the store, do it in a browser with an ad blocker you can set to hide the banner.
I'm guessing the OP thinks that some kind of X rated hot zombie sex will occur on the banner somehow if you stare at it long enough
As was suggested to you, block it yourself with an ad blocker.
I also just checked adblock and you can filter out banner images from the site. I strongly suggest you take matters into your own hands and manually block content you do not wish to see.
So i assume its trying to find some path on why it needs to be removed
The dead face with blood pouring off it? It's great that it doesn't offend you, but it offends me. Meanwhile, there's no adblocker in the steam client. We're in the suggestions forum and I'm explaining a problem but the response is that I should use the website instead of the client and apply an outside utility to solve a problem with the store?
There are people who are offended by gore. The game is rated M, partially because of gore. The banner contains gore and visually disturbing imagery. I'm not asking for the game to be changed or hidden or have anything else done to it that would penalize it compared to other games on Steam. I'm asking to not have gore and disturbing imagery given a massively intrusive position on the store page.
Like I said previously, it's not a matter of the game being advertised like other games are. It's a matter of a game that's known to bother some people being given a special, unavoidable position on the store page that can't be dismissed, and blatantly showcases one of the aspects of the game that people are known to be bothered by. It means that I can't enter the store without seeing something disturbing. Yeah, I could use the website instead and install and apply an adblocker, but it's a lot easier for me to just not use the store, rather than being treated like a second class citizen.
For those of you who are choosing to try and sexualize this, it may come as a shock, but there's more than sex going on in the world. There are, in fact, some people who have seen violence and death in the real world and don't particularly want to be reminded of it constantly. I'm not asking anyone to adopt any kind of moral position or change their life in any way. I get that you have your own thing going on, and that's fine. I'm just asking to be able to shop like a normal human being without having that constantly thrown in my face.
What about the RE2 Rev image in the center rotation? That's way more 'gory'
Though this is an online store so I guess it wouldn't be hard to implement something like don't even have "M" titles show on all store pages.
