Filter library by shop genre/tags
With an ever growing library (Curse you sales and bundles) It's getting rather difficult to keep an overview of what particular game you want to play at any moment.

The shop pages already have the genre listings, tags and further details like gamepad support or trading cards enabled. So those details must be linked to the games already, would be handy if the library could hook into that database and improve the filtering beyond installed/uninstalled and the particular name.

I have suggested this so many times. I don't play many games anymore because my library is a mess and I can't view my games by genre. Sometimes I view the store games by genre and can see what I own in those categories from there.. but I shouldn't have to.

Yeah same with checking if a game has trading cards. I mean the information is all there already why ydo you have to go to the store page to access it?

That's a really good idea too. So basically all they need to do is implement some more options (genre, trading cards, controller support, achievements etc) for the columns in the Details view. I'm sure that wouldn't take to long to do.

I also have a huge library, and its a mess. I really want Valve to do something about the library. We need to be able to sort by genre, years etc.

I just found out about this yesterday (via Black Blade) http://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/. Put in your ID and it collects your game data, and then pulls all the tags from them, and you can search for one or multiple tags at a time. I sure hope this website never goes down!

If a third party can do it that kinda further rubs in the point that it should totally be possible to include it in the client.

Yes I vote for that, it frustrates me too.

They just really needs to sex it up!
Genres, small video previews of the games and such.

it is qust

Yeah true video previews and stuff would be nice too. They did so much to overwork the shop interface and experience and the library is still stuck in the last decade.

you know you can create your own categories in the library? that's what I did, took me about 10 mins to sort 200+ games into genres I created, not hard really

I have about 800 games, and I shouldn't have to spend my precious time categorising them myself when the on the store tab they are categorised and tagged already..

I have suggested that too, steam really needs to improve on it's UI, many gamers are getting the same problem with overflowing libraries. I have even suggested a new UI to solve this problem partially, you can check it out at http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/611696927922619458/

@Borf the Demoham: It took you 10 minutes to sort 200+ games into categories? How complex and detailed was your system? I can only imagine the trouble of going to the store page of every game to look at it and find out what it is and where it would sort in, come up with categories and what not.

@Dare Devil: That does look pretty good. Though I'd be content if they just slapped half the store page on and called it a day. Just about anything to make the library richer in information and handier to maintain.

@Black blade: Looks interesting, not sure how I feel about having third party interact with my steam though (yes might just be a tad paranoid about that). And it really shouldn't be required.
