Don't allow Level 0/Private accounts to send friend/group invites.
It's all scammers and phishers. If I have a legit friend that's level 0 I'll send them the invite. It's already done with trade requests... we need it for friend requests too :0)

Just give us a settings checkbox.

() Block invites from level zero users
() Block invites from private profiles
() Block invites from VAC banned members

Those are 3 I'd like to see.

-OR-

Any private profile is visible to anyone you send a friend request to until that person accepts/rejects the request.

Great suggestion =).

It's surprising that we need to be a certain level in order to receive event cards, yet there's no restriction whatsoever when it comes to spamming invitations!

Level 0 accounts already can't actually. They require a paid game to send invites, they just look like level 0 because they are set to private.

Yes. I think the event card restriction is done because it blocks card farming. Valve has their protection, we need ours too! :0)

I didn't know that. I guess we need a settings checkbox to not allow certain people to send invites. Level 0= Check! Private Accounts=Check! VAC Bans=Check!
Well there goes all my Friend list. Most people actually have reasons for Private accounts.

What Malik Blishtar blister said rings true.

I guess we gotta put down our pitchforks for now =).

I'm not saying to block invites from private accounts for everyone, I'm saying allow each Steam user to set their accounts to not allow requests from private accounts. It wouldn;'t have to be mandatory.

I just know that I personally (and I'm assuming alot of others) would like to block level 0 users and private profiles from sending me invites.

They do, even got to see them respond from time to time, but its rare

Over all i do understand the idea, but i think its some what unfair for many uses that have there profile for many reasons (there been harassed and trying to keep there friends from been harassed as well for example)
Also some scam bots have three profile public, so its not going to help much any how

I know that almost daily I get an invite from a level zero private profile that wants me to click a link and add his friend. How is it a bad idea to give users the ability to determine who can/cannot spam them with friend requests?

Oh, I see, you're level zero with a private profile AND a VAC ban. Another one of our outstanding Steam "Cormonuity" members.

It says zero regardless of level if set to private?

I just set my profile to private and opened this thread in a web browser I wasn't logged into. It shows my level on mouse-over and my profile as private when clicked. I think you're wrong.
