Netflix with Steam?
I think the application itself should be a free client download, where it launches like Steam Games; where you can chat with Steam friends, brwose, while watching TV shows and movies on Netflix.
If somehow you can have that Facebook Feature, where you can have your friends watching what on Netflix and such.

Perhaps a Steam-Exclusive mode where you can watch a film with other Steam Friends, with a chat box to commentate while watching said film, where they'd be watching it at the same time.

Have a lobby system with a text chat, where you have the host that selects a film to go watch.
That way, everyone would be watching it at the same time.
It's great for Friends and Family on Steam, if they aren't so close to eachother.
Make it work with Big-screen mode, and that's a bonus.

It could possibly work, just not too sure.
It's not like a super-special membership thing, it's just additional features watching Netflix through the Steam Client.
It can problably also work with Family Mode, as Netflix also has a kids-only section.

That's what I believe that would happen, though.

What are your thoughts?

While I think this is a neat idea, I am going to say no because "Safety Dance"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjPau5QYtYs

Xbox Had already done this and it was scrapped. Enough people did not use it. Me and my girlfriend used it when I was in the Navy Stationed in Norfolk and she was in florida, but lets face it... How many xbox users have a girlfriend.

Lets take a look at the xbox and realize it is filled with your typical Brogamer/jock gamers. People that play multiplayer couch games or madden. Compared to the steam user... we have me, I have a Full Sleeve on my right arm, 12 piercing and my girlfriend wont let me munch on her carpet cause I may get stuck...

Do you see the problem here? I am not making any sense.

Just like it wouldnt make sense for netflix to make a buddy buddy system so some guy can hit on some random chick on counterstrike and take her out to the netflix zone on steam and watch Bill and Tucker versus Evil in hopes to get some E-Action delivered in the from of Imgur and Skype smashing the print screen key.

I'll disagree with you because you did make sense to me.
What I do agree with is everything else.

It still isnt a thing. Wont happen. Maybe a third party not affiliated with Steam will do it, perhaps its already done.

I'll agree that this will most likely be the case, given that VALVe is pretty busy.

It would be cool though. if someone did make something like that. Its hard to think Google has not done something like this with Youtube.

Only thing is i think it will need to come from netflix to Steam and not Valve to netflix to add something like that

That's how it usually works with all the other Steam Games.
As of now in here, it's just a discussion.

The problem with this is that they already have a website on the same platform. It would be impratical to waste money on a free application that would only have more bugs and several new features.

HOWEVER, it would be a good idea for the Steam Machine :sentry:

Why does Netflix and Steam have to be put together?

What use would it have? I'd get the same result by just logging in on Netflix and watching the stuff I want directly rather than going through Steam.

Steam doesn't exactly have the best internet browser in it too. So Streaming it through Steam is just gonna cause more strain.

Netflix has profiles already too. So Family mode would just be another layer of profiles on profiles already.

Also what's stopping you from chatting directly with friends through Steam while watching shows on Netflix?

I just don't see the point. Right now I can easily access Netflix by going to their homepage and start watching stuff. It has auto login for me so I don't even need to type anything in. Throwing Steam on top of that would be a waste of time and energy when the homepage itself does it's job far better alone.

I think his idea was more or less how Xbox had it set up. where you and your friends could watch a movie in sync.

Leave Steam for games other social media to do stuff like that.
